So, the forum is kind of inactive lately. We all know that. With that in mind, would there be any interest in making a Discord server? It'd be a way to communicate without the pitfalls of the old forum interface.

Sure.
But what about Fry and the moderation team?

They're welcome to step in and make the server themselves. I'm just asking the question. (I also didn't mean to put this in the News forum- this was supposed to go in the general forum. )

I'd be cool with a Discord server. Of course, whether it's an "official" NinDB Discord server is entirely up to Fry.
I wouldn't see it as a replacement for the forum, either.

Personally, I'm not sure. Forums have an advantage of being able to divide discussion topics, and being able to serve as an archive. I don't think real-time chats can serve the purpose of, say, a giant archive of cameos in Nintendo games. Also not a fan of it breaking compatibility with my ancient Opera 12.18 browser.
*Insert incredibly long tech rant that will put Cranky Kong to shame here*
On the other hand, it does have an advantage of having a dedicated program, and people can join whatever discussion here on the go without having to rely on a rather old browser-only website. At least, for as long as until some of us change phones and decide not to reinstall Discord.

I'd never say it should replace the forum, either. Dischord is most useful for quick discussions or voice chat, if you want. But for longform discussions, forums are still the way to go.
