Last 4 hours of normal store buying functionality, I got what I wanted over the past few days, though the 3 Konami ReBirth WiiWare games have vanished. What the heck? I couldn't buy Castlevania because of it! The store appears to be slowing down because of the amount of people using it.

Okay, I did my part. Bought 530 Eco Shooter, Maboshi Arcade and Line Attack Heroes. Here are the screenshots I took from it. I originally wanted to take a video of it, but my capture device (or rather, the software that comes with it) is beyond horrible.

I bought almost every worthwhile VC game and a handful of worthwhile WiiWare games. Both My Life as a King and My Life as a Darklord proved too expensive for me. I also skipped out on all of Taito and Hudson's revival games, but I don't think those were supposed to any good anyway, were they?

The ability to add points has finally been removed. We truly are at the end on an era.

That's cool. Nice video! I never had a DSi so never got to experience it, but some of the DSi games I downloaded later when the Nintendo 3DS came out. I did enjoy browsing the Wii Shop Channel though and I used to use Club Nintendo points to buy point cards or similar. Out of nostalgia I played a little bit of Sonic the Hedgehog on Wii Virtual Console but it was much slower for some reason.

I think the Virtual Console games are now slower due to the shutdown.

I think the Virtual Console games are now slower due to the shutdown. You're welcome. I don't think so and think some of the Virtual Console games have always been like that on the Wii. If I remember rightly as well Balloon Fight was released on the Wii U on 50hz, but was changed to 60hz later. I've never understood what it means, except hz is used as a unit of frequency. I always wanted to try out Flipnote Studio but never got the chance to (including on 3DS) until recently, as you can now use points for it on My Nintendo. Did you use to use it?

The reasons the DSi Shop closing wasn't widely noticed are because (1) most games are downloadable from the 3DS eShop, and (2) DSi only added small games that few cared about and had next to no DSi-only physical games, making many skip it.
The reason VC games are slow on PAL region Wii is because they're 60Hz games on a 50Hz system. The original game assumes there are 60 frames in a second, but the system would only display 50 per second. The result is that 1 second in the original game would now take 1.17 seconds to play on a PAL system.
It's not a VC-exclusive problem; the original Genesis games had this issue too. The correct way to deal with this is to either modify the game itself, or to make the system play at 60Hz anyway despite the electric grid runs at 50Hz — if Kansai and the rest of west Japan could do this, there's no reason Europe and Oceania can't. Wii VC didn't care, though; and will run at 50Hz even if the Wii system setting is set to 60Hz.
The best way to play VC games in PAL regions is to just buy them on 3DS, which (obviously) doesn't have a 50Hz mode at all. Actually, the 3DS VC and NES/SNES Mini (and Wii U VC too?) games in Europe are just the NA versions.

Reminder: Wii Shop Closes January 30, 2019: Dear Nintendo fans,
As previously announced, the Wii Shop Channel will close for good on January 30, 2019. The ability to add Wii Points was removed earlier this year, but if you still have any Wii Points that you wish to spend, you must do so before January 30, 2019.
If you have any questions, please see our Q&A.
Please also note that as the Wii Shop Channel closure date approaches, remaining video-on-demand services on Wii will be ending as well.
Thank you for supporting Wii Shop Channel and for being such great fans of Nintendo.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at Nintendo

Because I'm probably going to forget, I doing this now. You have just over 1 month till the Wii Shop Channel shuts down for good at the end of next Jan 2019. This is also the last time you can download you Wii VC/WiiWare games to your Wii/SD cards. Heck you might even want to get bigger SD cards just in case with post Christmas sales. Or perform the transfer over you VC/WiiWare content to a Wii U (which might not be that great since the Wii U "virtual Wii" is apparently a slight downgrade over a regular Wii according to this source)If you have a Wii this is also the last chance to download the Wii's Internet Channel. Why? It can allow for homebrew downloads such as Wiimmfi that restores Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection online for Wii titles.

2 weeks until the shutdown, I only just went and copied my SD card data to my laptop and 2 new SD cards yesterday which wasn't that hard.
Also make sure that your downloaded software has downloaded properly by seeing if it will actually boot up.

After all these years, I finally spent my last spare 100 Wii Points. I used them to buy a costume in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As a King. Now I hope the FFCC remaster sells really well so that we might get remasters of My Life As a King/Darklord with all the DLC included. Those were really fun games.
I'm also slowly going through my games to make sure they all start up. The only one I've found so far that didn't was Sin & Punishment, which gave me an error saying it was on the wrong Wii console. I wonder if that had anything to do with the fact that I bought the Wii U upgrade. Anyway, I deleted and re-downloaded it, and it starts fine. (Not that I'd ever want to play it over the Wii U version.)

Don't know if this is too late but this going to be last warning from me about this and about time to post this too. Use your points up, check your downloads work and grab the Internet Channel before the 29th! Since it's under 3 days so here's an MM Moon image (funnily enough it's probably not worth buying the MM VC version if you don't have it already.)
