I think this might be an interesting subject to talk about, and it covers so much.
As there are a lot of questions I've structured this thread like a survey.
When you play a game with an ending, do you usually aim for something that feels like 100% completion, or settle with completing the main story?
Me: I usually settle for just beating the main story, unless I really enjoyed the game.
What are our favourite genres?
Me: Platformer/Arcade-style/Fighting/Pokémon-style RPG
Do you prefer games with an ending or games without an ending/score based games?
Me: Both, though I have a soft-spot with those that have an ending. I just wait and play games I feel like playing, as I personally think play shouldn't always be like work.
'Casual' or 'Hardcore' gamer:
Me: I think these categories are a bit divisive and I don't like them, however I lean towards casual but take my Pokémon glitch research projects seriously.
Opinion on cheating:
Me: I feel if it's done after you've legitimately beat the game it's fine to play around if it enhances the gameplay (or even if someone's idea of fun is to beat the game with cheats), but I don't like cheating online as it can ruin others' experiences.

I've been thinking of making a thread for us to reintroduce ourselves. Even though we probably have an idea of what our preferences are, it's nice to have a single point of reference.
I'll answer your questions, and add a few I have in mind.
When you play a game with an ending, do you usually aim for something that feels like 100% completion, or settle with completing the main story?
100% completion if it's not too much for me. I tend to fall short of this goal for difficult games (Star Fox, Donkey Kong…), but in that case I don't mind either.
What are your favourite genres?
It's difficult to say. I tend to like individual series in some cases (I like FE but not SRPGs in general), and genre in others (I like most action puzzle games). My favourite genres are:
- Logic puzzle (Picross, Picross 3D, Polarium Advance…) - Action puzzle (Puyo Puyo, Tetris, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Puzzle League, Puzzle Bobble…) - Low-difficulty platformers (Donkey Kong is okay; Yoshi's Island is a bit too hard) - Japanese escape games
Otherwise, I look at games on a per-series basis.
Do you prefer games with an ending or games without an ending/score based games?
Doesn't matter.
'Casual' or 'Hardcore' gamer:
I see myself as a casual player.
Opinion on cheating:
This really only applies to offline play, but since you bought the game, you should be free to do whatever you want. I personally don't cheat or use mods for the most part.
Now on to my questions. These are more specific:
What games/series do you like?
This question may deserve its own thread.
First off, here's my current top 5 (in order) as of May 2018:
- Fire Emblem (main series and spinoffs) - Kirby (main series and spinoffs) - SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project - Super Mario (3D platformers) - Puyo Puyo (SEGA-era only)
Otherwise, I have a lot of games I like in various degrees. In a far-from-exhaustive list and in no particular order:
- Mario spinoffs (Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario & Luigi 3 and 4, Mario Kart, Game & Watch Gallery…) - WarioWare - Golden Sun - Puzzle League (Panel de Pon) - Bomberman (1993-2000 releases) - Parodius (but not Gradius or other Konami shooting games) - Metal Slug (main series)
There are also games that I generally enjoy but can't call myself a series fan, such as 2D Zelda (I played and loved MC, FSA and ALBW, but ignored the rest), Power Stone 2 and Crazy Taxi (the first game on Dreamcast). There are more, but I should stop here.
What systems have you played on? Which is your favourite?
FC (NES), SFC (SNES), N64, GC, Wii, WiiU, NSW, G&W (via Mini Classics), GB(C), GBA, DS, 3DS, MD, SS, DC, NGPC, PS2, PS4. I don't actually own most of these, and only played very briefly on some of them.
My current favourite is the 3DS, least favourite from Nintendo is NES followed by N64, and I don't have enough experience on non-Nintendo systems to really comment on them.
Do you play on non-dedicated game systems, such as home computers, modern PCs, Macs, or smart devices?
No, for the most part. I play small games (Flash games, Mario fan games, other stuff that don't require installation) on PC, but not commercial releases. PC games either aren't my cup of tea (I don't play FPS), or are on console anyway (such as Japanese RPGs).
I almost never play games on my phone. The only exception is the very occasional Fire Emblem Heroes, which I use to grind Platinum Points in My Nintendo.

Hoo boy. Let's see.
When you play a game with an ending, do you usually aim for something that feels like 100% completion, or settle with completing the main story?
A little of both. I don't usually aim for 100%, but if I enjoy the game enough, I'll keep playing it.
What are our favourite genres?
Action-adventure, action-RPG, arcade-style action.
Do you prefer games with an ending or games without an ending/score based games?
Both.
'Casual' or 'Hardcore' gamer:
Er, both? Sometimes I really enjoy digging into a game, and other times, I just like to pick up and play without a lot of commitment. In some cases, I enjoy genres that are considered "hardcore," but play them with a "casual" attitude (ie. shmups, fighting games).
Opinion on cheating:
As YL says, in single player, you're free to enjoy a game however you want. But in multiplayer or competitive aspects (ie speedruns/score runs), absolutely not.
What games/series do you like?
Too many to list, but it's fair to say at this point that Legend of Zelda is my top favorite series.
What systems have you played on? Which is your favourite?
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Switch, Game Boy/Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Atari 5200, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast.
Don't really have a singular favorite.
Do you play on non-dedicated game systems, such as home computers, modern PCs, Macs, or smart devices?
Yes, to a degree. I don't really have a "gaming" PC, so games are limited to either being older or low-spec. I don't play games on phones or smart devices.

When you play a game with an ending, do you usually aim for something that feels like 100% completion, or settle with completing the main story?
It depends, I rarely go 100 %, unless it's a really short game, or a game I really enjoy and feel like it's worth it to complete 100 %. But it depends, since I don't have as much free time playing games anymore, so it will have to be worth it in that case.
What are our favourite genres?
Can't really answer that, it really depends on my mood. I like platformers, racing games, sports games, well, any type of game really. I prefer to have some variety, as long as the game is fun.
Do you prefer games with an ending or games without an ending/score based games?
Again it depends, I like both types of games.
'Casual' or 'Hardcore' gamer: Somewhere in the middle, I guess, although I mostly play older games. I feel I'm a bit too "nerdy" to be considered a casual gamer though, but not quite the hardcore gamer either anymore.
Opinion on cheating: Cheating online is a big no-no, and I feel that it's wrong to beat a game through cheating. But to just play around with, why not?
What systems have you played on? Which is your favourite?
I own NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Original Gameboy. I have also played on PS1, PS2, XBOX, an old Pong console, Sega Master System, Sega Megadrive, Gameboy Colour, GBA, DS, 3DS, probably forgot some too.
Favourite will always be the SNES.
Do you play on non-dedicated game systems, such as home computers, modern PCs, Macs, or smart devices? I do play PC games once in a while, but not that often anymore. I never play games on my phone though, I just never could get into that. I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned.
