After over 20 years, a Nintendo Space World demo of Pokémon Gold and Silver (information before the leak detailed here) was leaked online; with both debug and non-debug versions.
As it turns out, the developers were not that careful in hiding away data if the ROM did get leaked.
Many completely unused Pokémon designs have surfaced, after Sanqui (known in old generation Pokémon hacking circles, also speedrunning/glitching circles, but he was not the dumper) and a team of over 25 people (intending to keep the leak secret until it was fully documented) analysed the ROM, which later was leaked again regardless. Not only this but there are also unused Trainers, altered moves, unused items including the infamous "Skateboard" reported before in old media, some interesting glitches, debug menus, and an old overworld including a minuscule Kanto hidden in the ROM.
Due to copyright I don't want to share the sprites of unused Pokémon, but a lot of the assets, information and ROM are now on the Internet including a thorough Google Documents file.
nocturnal YL: In a way, I'm glad I'm unrelated to those fan communities of the games I play. I just sit back and play games casually, not really caring whatever scandals or elitism or holier-than-thou attitudes going on.

Shrikeswind: I think I need to track down some horribly cursed Pokemon content now after that. You know, since that was such a heavy topic to drop in the middle of a quiet forum.

Nester the Lark: Also, I know YL isn't into speedruns, but he might be interested to know that RPG Limit Break is having a Gust marathon all weekend, including several Atelier games.

nocturnal YL: Ah… Bad timing. I didn't read this until now, when it's almost over.

Nester the Lark: Well, if you're still interested, they'll be uploading the replays to their YouTube channel later this week.

Shrikeswind: I like that Mayles put her back in her kneepads. What's the last game they were in? One of the Kongas? It was a good look for her, albeit very 90's.

Shrikeswind: The jokes call to me, their siren song a temptation I can hardly bear, yet I must stay my tongue. Confound my dirty sense of humor.

Nester the Lark: The replies I see to anything Nintendo posts on Twitter are probably an indication as to why they abandoned Miiverse and decided that social media should be someone else's responsibility.
