Random trivia: during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct 8.8.2018 presentation, when the Sounds section is being introduced, the menu gives away how many songs are in each series. This includes some new remixes and mostly old remixes and original music. Castlevania | 34 | Splatoon | 23 | Metroid | 25 | Yoshi | 14 | Kirby | 39 | Star Fox | 17 | Game & Watch | 2 | Wii Fit | 10 | Sonic | 20 | Bayonetta | 11 | FINAL FANTASY VII | 2 | Street Fighter | 36 | PAC-MAN | 13 | Other (including Ice Climber) | 97 |
This table totals to 343 songs. This means the rest of the series will have a combined total of more than 450 songs. Yep. FINAL FANTASY VII is still getting only two songs.

It's insane how difficult Square Enix is to work with. They shouldn't have even bothered with them if they were going to stonewall so much.

Maybe Nintendo solves the problem by putting something like the Mario Paint music composer in the game to make up for it?

I just think giving a mere two songs to the development team is incredibly disrespectful on the part of SE. Konami and BN have been courteous enough to even allow tracks from games not featured in Smash to be part of the playlist.

It's a bit of a stretch but you even put Sega in there, After Burner music (and a few other SEGA game remixes) first appeared in Bayonetta 1 and then got the After Burner song for Bayo's Smash stage.

EDIT β Ignore what I said, the list of music is datamined. Smashboards listingEDIT 2 β The music list on SmashWiki is complete.Original post It's probably a bit too late for Smash speculation, with just 2 weeks left, but I'm revisiting this to see how many songs we don't know yet. And it really shows that when Sakurai said the music is unbalanced (in terms of series distribution), he means it. I'm using this (unreliable) SmashWiki page as reference. I do realize this is doing statistics based on inaccurate and incomplete data, and my main interest is to see (1) how many songs may each series still get (remix or not), and (2) the number of new remixes we already have. www.ssbwiki.com/Music_(SSBU) (General page) www.ssbwiki.com/index.php?title=Music_(SSBU)&oldid=1128456 (The specific revision I used for this post) A total of 554 songs is listed in the SmashWiki page. Animal Crossing song count includes a K.K. song, which may not be selectable as stage music by normal means. I included Galaga into the PAC-MAN count. I don't know if this is how it will be presented in the Sound menu, but it makes little sense for me to think PAC-MAN alone would have 13 songs, and classic NAMCO game music were used for PAC-MAN stages in Smash for Wii U. The Other count includes: - Ice Climber (which has no category in the Sound menu)
- Duck Hunt (same)
- Monster Hunter (As with Wii U, this category does not seem to care whether the music is from Nintendo or third party games)
- Electroplankton (I'm actually unsure of this; I don't think this would appear in the Sound menu, but things may have changed)
Other observations: - The 13 known Kid Icarus songs are the same as the ones in Smash Wii U. The two Smash Run-exclusive songs (which are just original, full-length versions of songs already in Smash) are not here.
- Bayonetta has 11 songs in Smash Wii U. This most likely means we aren't getting any new Bayonetta music.
- The Yoshi songs not listed in Smash Wiki may be the Smash Wii U songs not yet discovered, being Obstacle Course (Fall/Winter) (which appears in Sound menu but not My Music), Main Theme (Yoshi's New Island) (Original), Bandit Valley (Yoshi's New Island) and Yoshi's Woolly World (Original).
- All Brawl WarioWare songs return, including the ones missing from 3DS / Wii U.
- The two EarthBound (MOTHER2) songs from 3DS / Wii U have yet to be seen. Could this be Nintendo failing to secure the rights to those songs again?

I've been waiting about 15 years for this to be remixed in Smash.
Today is good.

I'm more impressed to see something from Genealogy, after seeing Jugdral getting completely ignored by Brawl and getting buried in remixes in Smash Wii U.
Didn't expect this to be the first full FE4 remix featured in Smash, though. I was hoping for the map themes from Chapter 1/2/6/10/Final, or the Alvis battle theme.
