All right, I'm over the art style. As I said, it looks kinda like The Wonderful 101 (and also kinda reminds me of that old 3D Dot Game Heroes game on PS3, which itself was a Zelda clone). It's just that that opening animation looks so good, I want the rest of the game to use that art style! I'll admit, Link's Awakening is not my favorite Zelda game. Not even my favorite 2D Zelda game. I played though it once back in the day, and it never held my attention for a second play-through. I love the story for it, but the gameplay wasn't quite as compelling for me. Also, 3D Zelda soon came along and spoiled me. But I'm willing to give the remake a chance. Maybe there will be something new added to it that will grab me. Your thoughts?

The games art style gives it a plastic toy/figurine look to it, not that it's a bad thing. (This is gonna result in a amiibo isn't it?) The Mario enemy cameos are still present with the Chain Chomp and Goombas, so hopefully other cameos remain (Simcity references, Prince Richard, Totaka, etc). And some more "life" has been added with butterflies fluttering around and the fox running out of the bushes at 0:58
Overall it looks good and should most likely fix the biggest issue of LA (and OoA/OoS) being having to switch items out of the inventory again and again by having more buttons compared to the GB, though it going to need some sort of new content than just and inventory access fix. Could co-op with Marin or the Prince Richard as 2P be possible?

Is there any speculation as to who is actually developing the remake? It doesn't seem like it would be the main Zelda team. Could it be Grezzo, since they handled Tri-Force Heroes and the 3D versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? There was also that rumor a couple of years ago that they were working on a Zelda game (speculated at the time to be a Skyward Sword HD) due to a certain job listing. But then, haven't they been busy with Luigi's Mansion 3DS? Could co-op with Marin or the Prince Richard as 2P be possible? Apparently, Nintendo lists the number of players as "to be determined," so perhaps there could be some multi-player component.

It's been pointed out that a few games (like SMM2) have the same "to be determined" message while others like BoxBoy state 2p. I would think if Nintendo was to remake LA (and still keep it top down instead of making a full 3D adventure) there must be some other "multiplayer" feature (not just limited to local 2P with a pair of Joy Cons) like an online metagame and seeing the presence or spirits of other players throughout the world.
The original announcement for Zelda Wii U/BoTW mentions wanting to rethink the conventions of Zelda such as "completed dungeons in a certain order" or " playing by yourself". While the former happened (in ALBW and BOTW) the latter didn't really happen (unless Miiverse for TPHD/BoTW or the Tingle Bottle Miiverse support in WWHD somehow count). Maybe a new local 2P mode in LA could be actual attempt at it before a original Switch sequel?
In an unrelated note, PAL MyNintendo users can get the 3DS VC version of LA DX for 50% off for 45 gold coins.

EDIT: So, the amiibo unlocks Shadow Link for use in the dungeon creator. Other Zelda amiibo are also compatible. There was just a Treehouse Live segment for the game, which included Dan Owsen, the original English script writer. It looked like most of the text was exactly the same. Also, the color dungeon from the GBC version is confirmed included.
EDIT: Treehouse Live segment.

Also, the color dungeon from the GBC version is confirmed included. Some of the lines have been reverted to their original lines and the Yoshi doll is updated. Grandma Yahoo actually says YAHOO unlike the 3DS versions (at 1:17) The 3DS versions changed YAHOO to YIPPIE and HELLO. legendsoflocalization.com/3-times-that-game-translations-were-quietly-changed/While the Yoshi Doll dialogue went from "You got the Yoshi Doll! Recently, he seems to be showing up in many games!" to "You got a Yoshi doll! You can't count how many games you've seen him in now!" The dungeon layout editor looks interesting, though it going to suck having to basically beat the game to get 8 dungeons worth of rooms. Also can't believe I was right about the amiibo.

I admit, I just saw the "YAHOO!" line and Dan Owsen, and assumed it meant they were using his original script.
Oddly, I realized that I don't think they ever actually acknowledged his work on Link's Awakening during the Treehouse Live segment. He was hosting other segments, as well, so he wasn't specifically there as a guest just for that game, but I thought they would've mentioned it.
