I'm curious about unlicensced games (not pirated) that were released BEYOND the SNES days. Anyone have a heads-up?

I haven't actually heard of any unlicensed games on 3D Nintendo hardware. Most people turned to ROMs for their game-making.
However, be careful, as the only real (legal) distinction between pirated games and unlicensed games is that pirated games use licenses not held by the pirate company. If a pirate company released an original title, it would just be unlicensed.
And I'm sure there must be SOME unlicensed games out there, at least for the N64...

I've heard of an unlicened Sonic game for the Nintendo 64, never seen it myself though.

Well, that would be a pirated game unless Sega made it themselves, as it uses a Sega license without their express permission.

Well, it would be a pirated game since I don't Sega would have made Sonic games for the Nintendo 64(at that time maybe).
