According to USGamer, former Nintendo lawyer John Kirby has passed away at the age of 79 due to complications from blood cancer.

Kirby was the lawyer who took over for Howard Lincoln during the infamous Donkey Kong lawsuit with Universal. Obviously, he also shares a name with the Nintendo character. I seem to recall an interview with (I think) Shigeru Miyamoto where he said the character Kirby wasn't directly named after John Kirby, but the connection was definitely something they took into account when naming him. (There might be a link somewhere around here on the forum.)

An Imagineer at heart but also programmer/scientist practically. I decided to focus on the endless task of my own closed wiki project SanrioWiki.com instead for the company behind Hello Kitty et. al many others but on odd occasions not just a generic licensing company like when they did Sirius and the Fire Child film. Everything is notable even if just a minor Hello Kitty card xD for the sweet madness of it ^^

nocturnal YL: Aiyoku no Eustia is quite something. I thought I've somewhat hardened myself having gone through dark stories like Fire Emblem (Jugdral, Hoshido/Nohr, Fódlan) and Surge Concerto, but I'm still stunned. (Still doesn't beat real life, though.) Nov 10, 2024 15:17:23 GMT -5
