Before Miitomo, there was a game for NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i series mobile phones called Pokémate which apparently had development by Square Enix. Does anyone know if there were any more examples? Thanks.
Note, Mobile System GB is being documented already, and there are only a few Nintendo IP ones which are known (unless more cancelled ones are confirmed). www.niwanetwork.org/wiki/Category:Mobile_System_GB_games

I wasn't able to find the exact answer re: Pokémate. Possibly with a good search using its Japanese name there could be some light. However, I did find out there was another Nintendo online service in Japan, known as simply "Nintendo Mobile" which I posted on the wiki I'm an admin of. Since it only ended a few years ago you may have heard of it if you live in Japan.
This was where you could use a pre-smart device via i-mode to access a Nintendo browser (similar to the past Mobile Home Page, BS Nintendo HP, Randnet(?) ones). Here you could download Nintendo music or sound effects, including a limited time only Mother 3 Theme of Love download. It may not be directly related to Pokémate, but it seems details of how it works are similar.

I remember that. It's a pretty limited service, and I think it had mostly downloadable ringtones and standby screens, which required a subscription fee. See Niconico's article on the service.

Thanks nocturnal YL. On the lack of Pokémon sounds, this article may explain it, which makes me wonder whether there are any more for specific Nintendo series. bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Mobile

The service took placein the mid-2000s, at which point The Pokémon Company were starting to pick up the publishing and merchandising work for the Pokémon series.
For similar reasons, you'll find a lot of Nintendo collections that feature everything but Pokémon, such as the amiibo colour schemes in Yoshi's Woolly World.
