As many of us know, Nintendo actually began in 1889 (and at some point the company name was written in different kanji).
Earlier, I saw a fascinating post on Before Mario about Nintendo in the 1930s. blog.beforemario.com/2019/09/nintendo-cards-catalogue-from-mid-1930s.html How far can we extend back in terms of solid information?
This also makes me wonder if there is any surviving data about all the subjects we know little about; such as the Nintendo cabs, love hotels, television apparently (there is a book called Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered The World which is apparently an English source for this subject).
One possible way to uncover old information is to do an immersive check into Japanese books (e.g. cab books) to see if they have any pictures.

Dark Nintendo article on Pixiv, here we meet again.According to that article, the love hotel thing is a misunderstanding. That's a business started by the taxi company Nintendo owned, after they were no longer being invested by Nintendo. But in the end, I don't think this statement is backed by anything. Yamauchi's attempts at other business types are probably the least known information about Nintendo. Actually, I'm not even sure if any of those have anything to do with Nintendo at all. Are they done in Nintendo's name, or are they just Yamauchi exploring other investment options? (Granted, Yamauchi didn't quite get the memo on what a limited company is and often wouldn't separate himself and his company…)
