Shoutbox?

So, you guys know the activity level of the forum. I don't see it changing any time soon, but it is what it is. Those of you dedicated enough to keep checking up on this place are used to it.

But I was wondering if I should try activating the shoutbox. It might be useful for quick comments and other disposable things that aren't worth creating posts or threads for. I think the reason I never bothered with it before was because I was afraid it might actually discourage forum activity (ie. people might just use the shoutbox rather than make posts), but maybe we should give it a shot?

What are your thoughts?

I found myself often using Twitter for this kind of random thoughts — things that come up to my mind but there isn't enough substance to warrant a full-fledged discussion. I'd imagine doing it here would be a good idea, at least to me, partly because the audience here is a bit different from that of Twitter's.
