Something of a not-very-useful tip on using Nintendo Switch:
Although Nintendo of America provides information on how to delete and redownload DLC (deleting game data → go to eShop page → redownload) and it actually does work that way, there is a kind of DLC that cannot be redownloaded using this method: DLCs that are not for purchase and only redeemable via download code.
Such not-for-purchase DLC will not appear on the game's download page, and won't be individually downloadable outside of the user's account page, which only provides the option to redownload all purchased DLC for a particular game.
Illustrative example, using the game I tested this with, Atelier Lulua. This is a simplified illustration; I got all DLC in reality.
I don't think Nintendo expected people to want to remove DLC in the first place, thus the lack of options to do so. But this certainly is quite inconvenient, especially considering that Steam allows for individual DLC items to be disabled.
The takeaway of the story is that if you own DLC for a game that's not listed on the eShop page, any further purchase of listed DLC will not be individually removable.

Step | Owned | Installed | Save data |
---|---|---|---|
1, I got the game with an early-purchase costume. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy | |
2, I played the game and created several save files. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy | SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) |
3, I went on to buy extra DLC. Once purchased, the DLC is installed automatically. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) |
4, I created another save file with the new DLC. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | SaveData02 (All DLC) SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) |
5, I changed my mind about the DLC (for whatever reason), and so followed NOA's instruction to delete data. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | SaveData02 (All DLC) SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) | |
6, I reinstalled some of the DLCs I want, but not the early-purchase bonus, which is not listed. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | (Location) Machina Domain | SaveData02 (All DLC) SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) |
7, Now I can't start any of the save files. They all lead to error messages, since they all refer to DLCs I own but are not currently installed. | (Outfit) Innocent Fairy (Location) Machina Domain (Character) Totori (Character) Meruru | (Location) Machina Domain | SaveData02 (All DLC) SaveData01 (Outfit DLC) SaveData00 (Outfit DLC) |
