I hope somebody knows the answer to this Q.
The SMAS game has the boxart with Mario in a top hat and so on. This cart has SMB, SMB - Lost Levels, SMB2 & SMB3.
There was a re-release of this game with SMW as part of the collection with the new Luigi sprites - if I'm not mistaken it came as part of a special SNES bundle pack with a Mario Bros. theme.
Here's the Q: What was the boxart, if any, of the SMAS/SMW cart? Did it come in a game box at all, or was ir simply included inside the SNES box? I'd like to know if it had the same boxart as the original or not...
I hope somebody can clear this up for me...

In the UK (I'm not too sure about other regions) it came out separately and as a bundle. The box art looked like this More or less the same as the normal SMAS box but with the SMW logo at the bottom. The bundle box art looked like this (sorry about the poor picture) I'm not sure if the US version was released separately but I don't think it was. Anyway here's a picture of the US cart Hope this answers your question.

Wow! Thanks! ;D I wasn't expecting pictures, that's pretty cool! So, the 5-in-1 cart has a different box to the 4-in-1 cart, hey? I found a copy, but the box is the 4-in-1 box with the 5-in-1 cart - I am wondering if perhaps it isn't the original box for the game, and somebody just put the wrong cart in the wrong box... hmm... I guess I'll be waiting for the real thing to come my way... guess I'll be waiting a while then...

mrfindlay, is it possible you could get me some close-up scans of the third image in your post? I've never seen some of that character art before.

Wow! Dude! I've been looking for this boxart for AGES! As far as I can tell, the American release was not packaged separately, but was contained within the "SNES Mario Set" box (like the NES bundles were). I didn't know it had its own boxart in Europe, so thanks for unveiling that! And before we all get too excited, by the looks of it the only difference between the Super Mario All*Stars and SMAS+SMW boxart is the SMW on the box. Europe actually had much prettier SNES boxart than the US I will be adding some when I can... and when my collection grows once more.
