Well, so far we've had the doubters who don't want the merge, the doubters who think the merge won't necessarily mean the end of the world, and then me - in the middle somewhere not quite sure. I'm so glad to see so many non-members have turned up to have their say, and please note that NOTHING is decided yet. I've also been talking with a number of my affiliates on the matter, and many of them think NinDB should remain a standalone project. My readers here seem to think it would be best to stand alone, but that if I WERE to merge then I could do worse than N-Sider. But most of you seem to love these forums and love Nintendo Database just the way it is. So do I..... I said "go ahead if you want to", but to be totally honest with you, I have to tell you that I smiled a little bit when I saw you were not so sure. Everyone's posts are making me realize how much I love this site and how much I would hate to see its spirit die out somehow. It's just that everything about N-Sider, which is a great site is so... impersonal, while in this site the viewer always feels everything is being done for his exclusive pleasure. If it goes wrong, it would be like forming a friendly relationship with the owner of a family-owned bussiness and see the everything go to hell when the bussiness gets owned by a large company with a lot of employees. So if you decide to go for it, I think everyone would like for you to have a trial period at first, like someone already said, so that you could just go back if things didn't work out. NinDB doens't need anymore than it already has.

Hi. Long time vistor, first time post (am I just the biggest dork for saying that or what?). Been visiting this website for just over a year now I do believe and well, I've always been impressed at the site and it's webmaster. To quickly get to the beef, why tamper with something that works? I say leave the site as it is and work hard at keeping it going strong. I know how site poilitics go, I helped out (as the fanfics guy) with ZHQ.com (Zelda Headquarters) towards the end of it's life and I got to see a lot of stuff happen. I've been on my own with my projects since. Anyway, I am unsure from reading this thread if a decission has been made, so the question is, has a decission been made?

Hi. I'm sorry about calling the splash banner tacky. That was slight humor, actually.

Well, I decided to register. Seems like a nice, quiet, friendly board. ^^ I like those, personally. Hm. I'm having trouble expanding on my last post as a guest. I guess I'll stand by that. I'd hate to see this site merge with another. I love how it is, and I just don't think that the greatness of its current state will transfer well. I look forward to the final decision. Take your time with it - nothing worse than feeling like you rushed a decision after the fact.

Anyway, I am unsure from reading this thread if a decission has been made, so the question is, has a decission been made? Not entirely. Although I am certainly erring on the side of staying solo... as may be shown by a big update I'm nearly done with...

I'm not sure of all the details, but I'd rather you stay solo unless most of NinDb says intact or becomes its own section.
Now, don't get me wrong, N-sider is a good site, with great, unique content of its own. For what it's worth, they seem very professional, although I don't know why they used some of my screen shots without asking/crediting me. It's flattering nonetheless. ;D
In the end, of course, the decision is all yours. Wherever your work takes you, I will continue to read, enjoy, and support it.

Right, panic over! Nintendo Database is staying a solo act for now!
As I explained to Glen via email, he asked at an opportune time when I was getting a bit disillusioned with NinDB, mainly because all my emails were of the kind "Update your GC/GBA lists now please" and it was getting large and unruly.
But since he asked, and I set up this post, I've come to see just how much the site has achieved in its three years online, and how dedicated some of the readers are. It's been wonderful seeing you all discuss it at length like this, and has boosted my confidence in NinDB again. It will remain a staple of the Nintendo fansite land.

Kewl!
A lot of lame jokes came to mind while writing this post. But even through the happinness my mind was as self-conscious as usual, and I was able to perceive them and restrain myself from writing them.
What will the BIG update be about?

Excellent, now it's my turn to disillusion Fryguy by trying to takeo-merge with his site.
None of you heard that, by the way.

Ace news, I think all this talk of a merger has made everyone realise how much this site means to them. I'm happy with the news as I'm sure most people are. This site has real charm and anything to keep that going is a good thing. ;D

The big update was basically the new-style gamelist, and reformatted Gamecube section. The next big update will be to convert the SSBM cameos into the new format AND (doing the unthinkable) dissolving the SSBM trophy guide into the SSBM Cameo pages. Sorry, but if I want to avoid being swamped with panic whenever I want to make a format change, I'm going to have to cut down the SSBM trophy section a bit. It's been excellent, but I don't think many people use it as much any more, and it's too big (it's about 1/5 of my entire website) and most of all I can say all I want to in the cameos section anyway. Still, it'll be a massive cameos section!

So the site stays.
Good to hear.
(Ernster - what ever happened to your site?)
Fryguy - new GCN section is very cool.
