Here's the world record-holder for speedrunning Super Mario Bros 3 competing against a 4x400 relay track team and Stephen Colbert eating a Hot Pocket:

Now that Summer Games Done Quick 2016 is over, I thought I'd post some of my favorite highlights. First off is the speedrun of Pepsiman, which was just hilarious and got a big reaction from the audience. Pepsiman even started trending worldwide on Twitter for a while. Also note the guy dressed as Pepsiman on the couch. The runner also notes that the goofy guy in the cutscenes is Mike Butters, who appeared in a few of the Saw movies, and is also on Twitter. And here is why you charge up your 3DS before doing a live speedrun of New Super Mario Bros 2: This was a funny troll added into a speedrun of BioShock: Here's a blindfolded speedrun of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night by Romscout (who also once speedran the game while sitting next to IGA). However, he gets stuck for several minutes right in the middle of it due to one of the buttons on his controller not functioning properly. On a more serious note, you might remember a speedrunner named Halfcoordinated who did one-handed speedruns of Vanquish and Transformers: Devastation. This year, he does a one-handed speedrun of an indie game called Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight. It ends with an emotional speech about gamers with disabilities, and he gets a standing ovation. There were also some interesting TAS segements, but those aren't on YouTube yet. I'll post them when they're available.

Here's the TASbot block, which starts with Super Mario Land 2 and VVVVVV. My favorite is a simultaneous playthrough of Super Mario Bros 1, The Lost Levels, SMB2-US and SMB3, all using the same controller inputs and finished at the exact same time. (This starts at about 55:55*.) There's also a "playthrough" of SMB3 beaten in literally two seconds. (This is at about 1:13:00*.)
* Unless they trim the non-gaming parts out of the video, which they've been doing for previous videos, in which case, these times will be wrong.

Yesterday, I stumbled across a recent interview with Jonathan Potts and Cynthia Preston, the original voice actors for Link and Zelda in the old DiC cartoon series. It's fairly short, but kinda interesting to hear their thoughts on the series.

Shouzo Kaga (creator of Fire Emblem) has released his new strategy game, Vestaria Saga I, and it's a free download. I probably won't be playing it, tho, because I can't read Japanese.

Someone decided to gather as many images of "This game can only be played on the Game Boy Color" warning screens along with similar warning for the Neo Geo Pocket Color, and WonderSwan Color handhelds. www.vgmuseum.com/features/warn/Most of them a just generic text but some are little more amusing, especially the ones with characters looking sad. There something interesting about that attention to detail about a screen that vast majority will never ever see. Neo Geo I heard about this years ago but certain Dreamcast games would have warning when played in a CD player, sometimes spoken by character from the game. And it appears some of them are now on YouTube.

Having switched straight from the first Game Boy to Game Boy Color, I've never come across with warnings like this.
The Dreamcast warnings are interesting. Since game discs are read-only and I doubt CD players can be exploited by feeding them invalid data, so what are the actual problems from attempting to play those (and failing)?

Here's what happens when you call the temporarily-revived Nintendo Power Line:
I never called the Power Line back in the day, but I did write a few letters to Counselor's Corner in Nintendo Power magazine. They weren't always helpful, though.

I'd have liked it more if it doesn't constantly remind you that the system is not the original NES. I like the StarTropics bit, though.
"Hi, I'm playing StarTropics-" "747." "How did you know!?"

Check out this Majora's Mask fan film: Very technically impressive, but ultra creepy. Not sure I like that they replaced the fairies with flying meatballs.

Random video time: I've been listening to a ton of VOCALOID music lately, so here's a little girl perfecting Six Trillion Years and Overnight Story at the highest difficulty in Taiko no Tatsujin White.
