If I went to a party and people just sat there and played Gamecube, I would think it was a pretty naff party. Gamecube is for small gatherings.
So my favourite small gathering game is... well... going by games I've played it's Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Yeah, I'm going for Super Smash Brothers Melee too. But I might get Wario Ware soon too, so that could change my mind...

Fair enough, though by "party" I simply meant games with the word "party" in their titles or games with similar play elements to the ones listed.
All games considered, I'd still go with Wario Ware. ;D

Other than I have no friends. But for the question: If you have 4 or less people Mario Party is good, but any more than that and someone will have to wait an hour to play. But I'd have to say Super Smash Bros. Melee. When at anime conventions the first place I check out is SSBM in the game room.

Damn, I can't change my vote, because I just got Wario Ware today, and the multiplayer mode is AWESOME!! I played it with my sister today, it was pretty funny, especially with that mode where you pump up a balloon

Double Dash and SSBM.
They're one of the only games that can be played by more than 4 people (DD's LAN mode and SSBM's Tournament).

I've never seen enough Gamecubes for a LAN match. My friends usually just play mine. Nuts to them all, I say!

When we get our apartment, we'll have three Gamecubes between us. We could, in theory, try a Mario Kart LAN party.

ive tried mario kart via lan and its a bit disappointing, you cant select your characters or do grand prixs or anything... as for best party game, SSBM would have to be on my list, as well as MK: DD!!, Wario-Ware and Pac-Man VS. 4 swords is also great, but maybe not strictly a party game

you cant select your characters Ofcourse not... if you could, and you managed to get the whole 16 players (or even less then that) there'd be all sorts of fights over who got to be which characters.

SSBM, because it's still fun when played by four people simoultaneously, whereas MK: DD! for some reason does not appeal as much to me when there are more than two human players.

I voted for WarioWare, but I think SSBL and Mario Golf are nice as well.
