So, the Nintendo DS is due out in... oh... just about three weeks now. I want to know who is going to be picking one up at launch, who's waiting until Christmas, and who's waiting to see what games become available aside from the belated first-party launch lineup of one game and a demo?
Me? I'm waiting for the European release next year. Curse their hairy hides! But we should be getting a few more games by then. Whoo! Better bloody well had anyway.

Actually, 13 days. Less then two weeks. I got mine reservered along with Super Mario 64 DS. Too bad it's the only first-party game launching with the DS or I would get more. But the only promblem is I just read on gamestop.com that they are not getting it till the 23rd. (ebgames.com has it listed as the 21st. I knew I should have resevered it there!) I don't know what I'm going to do. I already asked for the 21st off of work... It better be a typo or mistake or something. Or maybe I can just screw the $10 I paid for it at GameStop and try to get it somewhere else. If there's any left! I wonder if I can get a refund?

I plan on buying it along with Super Mario 64 DS at launch, but I'd really like to try the thing out first. I can't help but be suspicious of such an unconventional system.

I'll be getting it the week after launch (hopefully). I just need to scrounge together enough money. I'll also pick up Super Mario 64 DS. I need to play that game. Need to.

Less than 2 weeks till the DS comes out in the US, huh? Hmpf, I live in Europe, so I have to wait... again. Does anyone have any idea about the Europe release?

I'm a little strapped for cash, so I'll probably just settle for Metroid Prime 2 and cut my losses. I'll get DS early next year I think.

I should hopefully be getting it on the European launch day. I really can't wait.

Apparently, European launch: March at about £130 or perhaps slightly less, depending on who you believe.

I don't plan to buy it, but I still want to ask a stupid question, because, you never know... Exactly how is the DS backwards compatible? I haven't bothered to read much about the DS besides what's on this site, and I had never heard anything about it being backwards compatible until I heard some guy from Nintendo Of America say it was when he was interviewed at E3. Does that mean that I can just stick any GBA cartridge into it, and it will read it? How about any Game Boy game ever? If so, I think it will mighty piss off anyone who bought the SP. And it might make me a little more inclined to buy it. I honestly felt ripped-off when the SP came out.

I felt like the SP finally gave me value for money. I'd drained so many batteries trying to complete games that I gave up on ever beating half of them. Since I got the SP I've been living on the thing.
Basically, ever since the DS's stats were released way back in... March I think... people speculated on its ability to run GBA games. An extra processor that matched the GBA's was seen on the list and so the rumours grew. At E3 in May it was officially announced that it would be compatible with GBA games as well.
Note that it won't be compatible with GB/GBC games. The reason? That would require even more extra processors. Don't know if you know this - but the GBA has to separately emulate GB/GBC games rather than run them through the same processor as the GBA. The DS will do the same, only it'll be GBA games that will be separately emulated.

Well...
I will have to wait until the Australian release - so that will be well into nest year for the NDS. Still, I won't be picking one up until around June, maybe even July - why? Well, I want to make sure that the line-up of games over the next year are worth me investing in a new piece of harware... although I do want a NDS.
As for the SP - I will be picking one up at the new price quite soon (yes, before I get a NDS) - why? Well, I want to play GBA, GBC and GB games on the go, instead of off my GBA Player, and I want the connectivity that you get between GBA and GCN - although, I'm likely to change my mind...
Also, I can't get a NDS for some time as I plan to outlay a few hundred AUD$ over the next 3 months on GCN games, a flight to Melbourne (maybe) and car service costs.
So... not on release for me... but soon enough...

The DS will soon be MINE! HAHAHAHAHAHA I plan on completing Super Mario 64 DS 4 times in a row. Once with each character. This is going to be so awesome! I just wish more first-party games were coming out at launch. I really want Animal Crossing DS and Another.

I only got SM64DS (good game by the way) and I'm getting Feel the Magic soon.

Last week, I bought a Nintendo DS console at a local import game shop. However, it didn't come with any games at all (Metroid Prime Hunters Demo for example) because the version of the Nintendo DS I bought was Japanese. If you're wondering why I own a Japanese Nintendo DS console is because I don't want to start my DS collection with the Metroid Prime Hunters demo, and it'll still play any DS and GBA games from any region other than Japan. I paid almost $201 dollars (US currency) for it, but it's okay. The first Nintendo DS game I want to get is a import Action Racing game called Pokemon Dash.
