I'm talking about Wario Ware: Mega Microgame$ and Mega Party Games.
Now tell me, is it the first media besides the Internet to use the word "fanboy"? When I first saw it in 9-Volt's bio in MPG, I nearly laughed so hard.

It's possibly the first time I've seen it used in a game. It's definitely the first time Nintendo has used the word - and to describe a Nintendo collector as a fanboy as well! Honestly.
But Nintendo does love its fanboys. We're the crusaders in their worldwide army. We make sure not one person forgets their glory days of the NES and SNES, and we consistently turn against those developers who turn their backs on Nintendo altogether.
Also note that girls can be fanboys. Don't be offended, it's just the way the language has developed!

Wow, I gotta check that... pity my Wario Ware game somehow got erased and I'm at the beginning! (I beat it too!)

Well, it's the first time I've heard of it being used in a game, but I have heard it outside of the internet before.
In an episode of Invader Zim, for example...

Definitely not the first time it's been used off-the-net.

Has it also been used on TV or in books?

There is a character in the TV show Freakazoid! named The Fanboy, and it is also the name of a comic book by a MAD magazine artist. And the word has also been an important part of several movies and magazine articles.
But it's most likely the first time that the word has been in a video-game, probably because it's a self-reference. It would be like if in the next Star Wars movie, Obi-Wan became angry at Anakin for digitally including himself in his favorite childhood films.

I agree Fry. On company I'll put on the spot is Square-Enix. They just leave Nintendo after FF4 and just come crawling back for 2 games. It angers me but still, I like there games.

^ What? But it's most likely the first time that the word has been in a video-game, probably because it's a self-reference. It would be like if in the next Star Wars movie, Obi-Wan became angry at Anakin for digitally including himself in his favorite childhood films. And not for, say, betraying the jedis and such? I don't mind fanboy so much. There are more derogatory things to use like 'gaming whore' or what have you.

I meant to say that the word "Fanboy" hasn't appeared much in the media because it's only known to fanboys themselves, not because they might be offended by its use. I certainly don't mind being called a fanboy. A guy with a Boba Fett headshot for an avatar is pretty much asking for it. ;D

The most offensive word is Nintendophile.

Also note that girls can be fanboys. Don't be offended, it's just the way the language has developed! The apropriate term is Fanperson.
