I'm approximately 99.99% sure about this cameo, but I'm not sure if this will enter NinDB.
When playing Top Rode, a paper ball (just like the one that appeared in Super Smash Bros Melee) will appear, revealing a bunch of items.
The paper ball comes from Super Smash Bros Melee. However, since this item is not specific to the game (What should I say...? It exists in reality, and in games other than SSBM you may also see this kind of thing... just not in this style... Or should I say this thing is so common that it does not refer to anything...?) I'm not sure if thie reference will evter NinDB or not.

No, it is a Japanese thing, not a Nintendo thing. They use these yellow paper party balls to shower people in confetti and streamers, usually.
You may also notice they're in Super Monkey Ball, the animated Pokemon TV series, and I'm sure a load of other stuff... but because they're simply a piece of Japanese culture that slipped into a Nintendo game then it doesn't count as a cameo.
Unless I start counting "real world cameos"... pipes in Mario, animals in Star Fox, bug catching nets in Zelda, Pikachu in Pokemon... oh wait.

If you want to know its called a party ball. Hal may have got the idea from SSBM but it is common in japan. Its also in Super Monkey Ball
