cube.ign.com/articles/613/613034p1.htmlSome cool information on the now very badly named new Mario Sports spin-off, Mario (Loves) Baseball. Interesting points noted: - Japan release currently July 21 - Mario, Luigi, Wario, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi, DK, Koopa and Monty(!!) all playable. (Waluigi isn't mention but is in one of the original shots) Each character has different strengths/weaknesses (like in every Mario sports title). Mario = Well Balanced, Yoshi = Fast, DK = Strong - "Personal Touches" on characters. Monty uses a palm tree (so is this Monty the mole or not?), DK uses Boxing Gloves instead of a bat (huh?). (orignal screens also show Bowser's bat looks like a Bullet Bill) - Like Mario Power Tennis, there are special moves for different characters (mentioned are pitches - one that makes the ball catch on fire, on that makes it curve). Special moves require holding down a button to charge a power metre. - Not yet known if stages are like in MPT, but there are apparently "interactive fireworks shows" when a home-run is hit. What that means, I don't know. Looks good to me. Hopefully I'll love this as much as Mario Loves Baseball. Seriously, that is a terrible sounding name.

Is the the ENGLISH name? The Japanese name is Mario Stadium: Miracle Baseball. I can't confirm it. Japan is always the first to reveal title names. But there IS a chance of it being called just "Mario Baseball"... What I know about this title is that it is being developed by NAMCO. (Why NAMCO!? What is Nintendo doing now with it? Donkey Konga games, Mario Kart Arcade GP, and now....?)

Don't forget StarFox Assault!
But seriously... I doubt Nintendo of America would choose that as a suitable name for the game. Even Japan's name makes more sense. But then IGN are weird sometimes.

I still think Mario Soccer (or Mario Football to you European types) would've been a better idea. Baseball is kinda dull and not nearly arcadey enough, but that's just my thoughts.

Yeah, Mario Soccer would have been better... Or better yet - stop making spin-offs altogether!

Most of the time dont trust Ign(If you remember these are the same ppl who think RE4 is better then LoZ: OoT). Incorrect. The readers thought RE4 was better than OoT and were responsible for that atrocius list. IMO, Baseball would make a better game than soccer. And Andronicus, you need to shut up.

Mario, soccer, soccer, SOCCER!!!!!!! First of all, I never trust IGN or NoA for any information about future games. Also. I've checked that "Monty" is not Moty Mole - instead, it refers to "Monte" from Super Mario Sunshine.

And who is "Monte"? That makes more sense, with the palm tree, but who is he?
Also worth noting the apparent title "Mario Stadium: Miracle Baseball" seems to be leading the way for future Mario Stadium titles. Basketball? Soccer? Syncronised Swimming? Who knows?
EDIT: A quick search tells me that "Monte" seems to be Pianta. So its just a regular Pianta? Aww... the Mole is a zillion times better than that. They could have at least used Il Piantismo or whatever his name was.

There are even screenshots of him... img16.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc231&image=02b_scan01.jpg

Heh heh... IGN must've got the name off that page. They didn't realise it was just a good ol' Japanese joke The pianta is using an uprooted tree... you can see the leaves at the bottom.
