I do think its lame since 1)It kills your L button 2)It makes some characters useless 3)Hard to win with it online(as stated above)
I just dont use it. Plain and simple.

But it was put in intentionally, just like Waluigi and Dry Bones. I'm not sure about the earlier Mario Kart games, it probably was an accident then, but in MKDS, it's in INTENTIONALLY. If you don't like an aspect of the game, don't play it. I just don't understand your logic. I find Fox's uB annoying, but that doesn't mean he should be removed from SSB does it? I think it's more like you're not actually reading my posts so much as arguing with me because I happen to disagree with you. So for your sake I'll consolidate and break down my entire point into one post. - Snaking is not a cheat, but it's cheap. Because I see it as such a tactic, I don't use it. You said so yourself--I don't like it. I don't play it. That doesn't stop it from being cheap.
- It's a tactic overly competitive people use to ensure victory. I don't mind competition, but I don't enjoy getting tripped in a game of frisbee so the other team can get ahold of it.
- Intentional or not, the move is still an exploit because it is exploitable.
- That whole secret character/kart argument of yours is entirely off base. At first you said snaking may have been left in accidentally, now all of a sudden you're changing your argument because Blueberry_pie mentioned a sourceless interview (no offence B_p) in which the creators supposedly said it was an intentional addition.
Here's to hoping you actually read it this time! *holds up a mug of ale*

It was an intentional addition, in atleast MKDS.
Before that, it could have went in by accident.
And my argument is "ITS NOT A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH A POTENTIAL GAME!"
Remember the original discussion? That's what my argument is. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S IN THE "NINTENDO RACER" OR NOT. You might not like snaking, but snaking doesn't destroy the idea.

I'd have to beg to differ on that. If the original idea of 'Nintendo Racer' (lets call it Super Speed Bros.) was about combat-racing, and snaking destroys the combat aspect as it just becomes a race to the finish, as nobody can hit anybody, then, yes, it very much does destroy the idea.

Hm... okay you get me their.
Well then just remove mini-turbos. Who says we need mini turbos? That's a mario thing anyway.

I still stand by my points. Saimdusan, you're clearly not even paying attention, so I'm moving on.
Anyway, think of the variety of weapons that could come with an inter-franchise racer like this. A Hookshot power-up could draw you forward to other racers or certain obstacles, or a bow-and-arrow could temporarily flatten a tire and cause opponent racers to veer slightly to one side and slow down. A Silph Scope or Go-Goggles would give you a map of some sort so you know where the others are (I imagine playing without a map would be a nifty little variance from the norm). You could grow wings on the sides of your car that gives you a hop ability (Kid Icarus power up!), or gain a Fire Flower and temporarily shoot projectiles.

Indeed... but I actually prefer the idea (filched from Diddy Kong Racing) that each character has a unique catch-up attack, an aggressive attack and a defensive attack that all start weak and can be powered up.
That was, the differences between each character are a lot more pronounced than in Mario Kart. You could have a maxed-stat driver, but with poor standard powers. Power-up and they could be great!

Is this the same DKR that I have at home?? None of those are present in my version of the game (PAL version). If I am correct you have to collect balloons in able to attack the other racers. Maybe you mean some other game.

Haha, I started writing something else. What I meant was, like in DKR, you power up your three "moves" by collecting something like Smash Orbs.

Too Smash like, basically.
Remember, its a racing game, so you've got a whole new cast of characters to choose from - things like Mach Rider and Excite Biker (and I guess Excite Trucker, now) would all be shoe-ins for a racing game, and even characters like the Wave Race and 1080 Snowboarding crews have a decent chance of making it in, whereas in Smash they don't have more than a 1% chance, at best.

First off, a game like this needs to have a style that's the complete anthesis of SSB. That is to say, while SSB was all epic-like, with detailed graphics and orchestrated music and junk, this racing game should be outright wacky and over-the-top. Like Fry said, the characters would be super-deformed (even have Samus wear her armor without her helmet, with green hair and Link could be his "Cel-da" counterpart) and the general atmosphere of the game would be very cartoony.
For the mechanics, I'll use an idea I had for a new Mario Kart game. The item system is like this:
You have a large selection of items to choose from. You can pick three to bring into play with you. When you are racing, the items will be displayed onscreen with a gauge. Collecting Smash Orbs (Item Tokens in my original idea) will fill the gauge up. You must use up a certain amount of the gauge to activate one of your items. The amount differs with each item.
There are varying types of items (which I based off of Mario Kart Arcade GP) The different types are as follows:
Throwing Items These can be thrown ahead of you. Some have multiple shots.
Lock-on Throwing Items These have lock-on capabilities (in which a crosshair appears on target). You can also thorw them without aiming if you're impatient.
Dropping Items These are dropped on the ground behind you. They're normally activated by being run over.
Backward Throwing Items These items can only be thrown behind you.
Power-up Items These items give your car a boost or some sort of status effect.
Close-up Items These are activated by driving into another racer. Usually a bludgeoning weapon or an item that can be passed over.
The characters also have special items that only they can use. All we have to do now is complile a list of items that can be incorporated into this game.
Another idea I had was the concept of tranforming vehicles. All the characters would start out in an ordinary kart (with ordinary stats), but by collecting enought "Kart Orbs" (originally Kart Tokens) to fill up another gauge, the character would upgrade their kart into a vehicle specific to that character. Each vehicle has different stats, some better than others, some worse than others. Now we need to decide on what the vehicles would be.
Now for courses. There'd be a stage for each character, with five courses in each stage. There could also be an unlockable stage. Need to think of a list of courses now.
So what do you guys think of my ideas? Think you could help me with the character, vehicle, item and course lists?
