I was referring mainly to Sony and Microsoft - people often attribute mascots to the Playstation or Xbox like Mario to Nintendo, but then they show up elsewhere later, as the developer and license isn't tied to a specific publisher. Mario is tied to Nintendo, Sonic is tied to Sega. The others are more difficult, as some of them simply don't do in-house stuff (or haven't since their earliest days). That bloody paperclip... JUST when I thought it might be helpful in some way... it can't even get THAT right! OK, OK, Pitfall was Activision's first important game. It's still Pitfall Harry, just because there's hardly anything else to choose from that they still own!

You guys have got it right, but there a plenty of failed mascots that tried to emulate Mario and Sonic over the years. Let's have a look, shall we?
*Accolade - Bubsy the Bobcat *ASCII/Titus - Ardy Lightfoot *Konami - Sparkster *Sunsoft - Aero the Acro-bat, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel *Tengen - Awesome Possum

Sparkster was cool though. They should've followed up with a third game...

Earhtworm Jim was for some company. Interplay - Boogerman ...and don't forget Virgin's Cool Spot. The strangest part of this is that Earthworm Jim was later licensed/bought by Interplay to be in Clayfighter 63 1/3... Alongside Boogerman. Say, who has the rights to them these days? A bit back, some company announced EWJ 1&2, Clayfighter and Boogerman would be on the VC sometime. *ASCII/Titus - Ardy Lightfoot *Konami - Sparkster I'm glad someone else besides me remembers Ardy Lightfoot! For whatever reason, I loved that game when I was young. I recently played through it again (thank you internet!) and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Also, I wouldn't call Sparkster a failure. All three of his games (Sparkster was different on the SNES and Genesis... SNES was much easier) were all well recieved. Not so sure how they did commercially.... Also, according to Wiki, he's cameod in Contra: Shattered Soldier (attacking the protagonist in an ending!) and will be in New International Track & Field. I can only hope they put Rocket Knight Adventures on the VC...

A bit back, some company announced EWJ 1&2, Clayfighter and Boogerman would be on the VC sometime. It looks like Interplay (re-established end of last year) still owns the rights to EWJ, and is planning a comeback for the character. And the new game is being worked on with Doug TenNaple, the original character creator.

I knew they had planned a comeback for him, but thought it fizzled out with that atrocious looking PSP remake. I had no idea TenNaple was working with them either. This sounds great!

Sounds like it was announced in March this year. I've closed the resource now, but I read it on IGN.

And apperently, TenNaple has expressed interest on his fourm for it to be released exclusively on the 360. If that end up happening, it's another reason in an increasingly long list of reasons for me to get one.

Sparkster was cool though. They should've followed up with a third game... Coincidentally, once I've finished up with my current batch of comic scans, the Sparkster comic is a contender for the next batch! He was a great character; I mean, a rodent in a jetpack! With a chivalrous knight vibe!

A new Earthworm Jim? That, I need to see to believe.
