We all know Nintendo and Sega have Mario and Sonic respectivly, but what about Atari, Konami, Microsoft...? Who represents them? Show you thoughts, but remember to state the reason why!!!Microsoft: Possibly Master Cheif, even though they don't have complete control over it. He seems to be their most popular representative. Activision: Not completely sure on this one. They don't really have any popular and prominent characters. Capcom: Mega Man. Who else? He's widely popular and well-known, and I could name a couple of people who have broader knowledge on him *cough*Tei*cough* Electronic Arts: Hmm, kinda the same situation as Activision here, but finding out who would be a fun debate. We've got quite a few to choose from. Konami: Now, I don't have much knowledge on Konami other than the fact that they hold the rights to Solid Snake, who does seem quite likely. Sony Entertainment: Spike from Ape Escape seems like a good choice. Any others you could think of? Well, that's pretty much it. Thoughts?

Sony used to have Lara Croft, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro. Heh. I'd say Jak is more likely their mascot nowadays though. Closest thing anyways.
EA is definitely Madden. Who else?
Konami... I could see Simon Belmont as a candidate too.
Namco is definitely Pac-Man.

Capcom's official mascot used to be Captain Commando, but Megaman took over, being way more popular. Konami's first mascot used to be Pentarou, but I think Goemon took over for awhile with it's many sequels. Metal Gear is about their most popular franchise nowadays so Snake would make sense. Square's could be Cloud, with it's many FF7 prequels 'n sequels. I'd say Banjo Kazooie for Rare, but Viva Piniata is crazy popular so... Taito's could've been Bubble Bobble, but apparently Taito's a subsidiary owned by Square Enix since 2005. Didn't know that... Hudson Soft's is Bomberman, no questions asked.

Well, we should probably set up some kind of rules for this. Obviously the mascot has to be owned by the company - just because a character is popular on a system doesn't make him a mascot. Ideally the character would have been created in-house, so it can't wander off to other systems later (ala Crash, Spyro, Lara, etc.) The character should also be active, and ideally quite old. So without further ado: MicrosoftSeriously... Microsoft Game Studios just buys up game properties and drops them just as fast. But is there any more iconic and recognisable character in Microsoft's stable than Clippy? ActivisionIt's Pitfall Harry! Pitfall was Activision's first game, and is still currently active today. More importantly - still published by Activision! CapcomNo argument really. Mega Man is Capcom's most recognisable character, and possibly their oldest still-active character. Electronic ArtsAlmost impossible. They are a publisher through-and-through, and don't seem to have held on to any old game properties that are still active. Aside from The Sims... but that doesn't really have a mascot... unless... Konami or Old, still active, and still Konami. Goemon and Frogger are both good contenders. Goemon is their official mascot, I believe, but Frogger is just as recognisable... and older! Sony Computer EntertainmentI have just been checking out their back catalogue right down to Sony Imagesoft in the 90's. What a horrific task. I remember most of these games (based on Sony movies) receiving 10% or less in game magazines. Looks like the oldest we're gonna get is Playstation... and even then, it's tough to find internally developed and iconic characters. But let's go with...

-Square's mascot is a Chocobo or a Black Mage.
-HudsonSoft's mascot is either Bomberman, or the Hudson Honey from those Japanese commericals, who also made a crapton of appearances in Bomberman games.
-Taito's mascot is either Bubblun or a Space Invaders ship.
-Rare's mascot is already established: Mr Pants..

Huh, there's a YouTube function in the Make A Post window now...cool.
Anyway, for the longest time I've had an idea in my head where Mario, the Master Chief, and PaRappa (representing Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony) had to stage an intervention to Sonic - who was currently slouching on a couch in the House that Shiggy Built with a potbelly, a bag of chips at one hand and a bowl of salsa at the other. He's got one of his arms tied off with a strip of cloth and a needle sticking out of it just below the cloth, and you can see he's really haggard and his eyes are all bloodshot and stuff. The other three mascots are tired of Sonic being suck a do-nothing slacker, releasing one crap title after another on everyone else's consoles, since Sonic got kicked out of Sega House.
Fun times.

Sonic was Sega-exclusive up until the point that there wasn't Sega systems anymore. Fryguy was referring to 1st Party Developers, not about the mascots of 3rd Parties (which is what Sega is now).

Wasn't the first Frogger co-developed by SEGA and Gremlin and published by Konami.

ActivisionIt's Pitfall Harry! Pitfall was Activision's first game, and is still currently active today. More importantly - still published by Activision! Wrongo! Pitfall was NOT Activision's first game. Activision was formed in 1979 and Pitfall was 1982. Do the math. Maybe Harry will lose to some WoW beast, as Activision will become Activision Blizzard this summer.

... isn't there supposed to be a Wii Parappa game? Nope, but there is a game that's being done by the same combination of art director (Rodney Greenblat) and developer (NaNaOnSha). I forget what it's called, something about a Marching parade.
I mean, it might be part of the PaRappa universe in the end, but so far there's nothing to prove it will be. Even though Rodney Greenblat is on board, all the character models will be fully 3D, instead of paper cut-outs.
