Mona? The Hunters?
You've got a whole bunch of secondary, tertiary characters, and fairly obscure characters from popular franchises but very little in terms of miscellanous / old-school characters - thats where the meat should be.

Mona has four (five) games under her belt. I'd hardly call her obscure. And as far as the Metroid universe goes... who else can you really add besides Samus?
I suppose you could tack on some extras like Mike Jones, Stevenson, Takamaru, Little Mac, and so forth.

Mona has 5 games under her belt - but you don't play as her.
Metroid has Smaus, Ridley, and then maybe Dark Samus and/or 1 Hunter (or someone from Prime 3, maybe). Thats plenty of characters - you don't need 9 of them.

Well I was defending my lineup, not so much the other one.
As far as Mona goes, you never play as Zelda either, with the exception of SSB.

Ok, I'll add one hunter (Noxus or Spire) and Mona.
Another idea I had was an online RPG( like PSO, not an MMO). This will allow you to chose the character you want. When you go online you will only see your friends and anyone there with. You cant hear those other ppl(there ones on you's friends friends list) unless they end up in your party. There are 4 room and it will state the # of people in it and who of those are your friends. Batteling is like more action based then PSO. In a room, you will look like the character desing(colors ect.) but friends have names over there head.
If I were to chose one it would either be this or the Tacical RPG.

? You do play as Mona in WW: T, sort of. Each minigame you finish makes Mona shoot the enemy properly.

Here's how I'd do my own SSBRPG:
First, limit of two characters per franchise on the hero's side, so as not to overwhelm things too awful bad. But because I know you people (and myself included) love large numbers of characters, there would also be "support" characters that aid you in battle similar to summons, but not quite. And I'm a sucker for "villains teaming up" a la Kingdom Hearts, so I would have to go with that to unify things.
Battle would be in real time and would NOT rely on the standard Attack-Item-Magic circle used in Final Fantasy games or Mario RPGs. Instead, it would impliment something of a Tales of Symphonia styled system, mixed with the SSB formula--all standard buttons are regular and "magic" attacks (all "magic" attacks are ones that are not made by direct contact...punches and kicks are normal, lasers and flamethrowers are magic, etc. Any kind of punching or kicking attack that involves magical elements are considered physical attacks, such as the Falcon Punch). Start, in battles, pauses the game and allows you to access an items menu. Items would be things found so far in SSB games--Maxim Tomatoes and Heart Containers would be equal to potions that restore health, you could access a Metal Box if you had one handy at any time to increase your character's defense and attack power for a short period of time, etc.
And yes, there'll be some cutscenes. Story helps make the world go round :D
To start, the game would be divided between three different storylines that would eventually cross over before fully mixing. For lack of more descriptive terms, they'd be the Outright Fantasy, Modern Fantasy and Sci-Fi storylines; this way, things don't get overly confusing.
Starting out, the characters on the hero team are:
Outright Fantasy Mario and Luigi (Support: Toad) OoT Link and Tetra (Support: Tingle) Marth and Ephraim (Support: Eliwood) Pit (Support: Palutena) Yoshi (Support: Baby Yoshi (from Paper Mario: TTYD)) Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong (Support: Dixie Kong)
Modern Fantasy Pikachu and Jigglypuff (Support: Red) Ness and Flint (Support: Jeff) Popo and Nana (Support: Polar Bear) Tom Nook and KK Slider (Support: Able Sisters)
Sci-Fi Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi (Support: Slippy Toad) Samus Aran (Support: Gunship) Kirby and King Dedede (Support: Waddle Dee) Captain Falcon and Dr. Stuart (Support: Mighty Gazelle)
Wait, I know what you're asking--why King Dedede and Waddle Dee instead of Meta Knight? Just hold on for a second.
Now, from each franchise where applicable, a "damsel" has been taken by the evil team (with only a few exceptions) in order to lure the heroes into their intricate plot. Peach, Zelda, Eirika, Candy Kong, Green, Paula, Krystal, Adeline and Jodi Summers get kidnapped and their powers--or what constitutes as powers--have been merged with the enemy representing their world. The Villainous Team--lead by Ganondorf, Giovonni and Andrew Oikonny--are Bowser (who, because of his kingly status, has a BIG beef in being so far down the chain of command), The Black Knight (I think he's a FE bad guy, I may be wrong), Medusa, Kamek, K. Rool (who doesn't mind not being in charge as much as Bowser), Pokey, Ridley, Meta Knight and Black Shadow (ego problems again). Also working for the Villains are Wario, Waluigi, Dark Samus and Team Star Wolf--but are their intentions really that clear?
The reason I chose Dedede to help Kirby instead of Meta Knight, is because Dedede has proven himself in the past to not be that bad of a person. If Dreamland is in trouble, he'll take steps and even ally himself with Kirby in order to save the planet--much as he did in Nightmare in Dreamland, where he split up the Star Rod to prevent Nightmare from taking over Pop Star. Knowing that there are some pretty ruthless characters on the villainous team, Dedede politely declines their offer, but not without making a recommendation...and so, he informs Meta Knight, who takes up the position as a mole for the Sci-Fi heroes. Meta Knight will be unaware that the Wario Bros. and Star Wolf are also moles, the former paid out by the Mushroom Kingdom, the latter by General Peppy.
I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. Anyway, there would be worlds for each franchise as well--and there would be Hub worlds, places where the different storylines cross-over. You would start with Outright Fantasy and could only move on once you hit a certain story point. It would start in Hyrule--Link would realize, somehow, that Zelda has gone missing and he sets out on Epona to find her--but, similar to Majora's Mask, he travels for too far and too long, eventually finding himself lost...until a strange town appears before him, almost in a thick haze. It's a Fire Emblem town and Marth and Ephraim are currently engaging with some grizzly monsters set forth by...Ganondorf! Link spots him standing on top of a citadel in the near distance and spurs Epona onward. While he's SURE it's Ganondorf, the monsters are none like he's seen before--infact, some "monsters" are merely human knights in monstrous armor. The first battle is a solo fight, but shortly afterwards Link and Epona are joined by Marth and Ephraim. (There are other FE characters from other generations here as well--while the other characters are aware that this presents a problem, as the fabric around their world is shattering, Link can "sense" it being fairly attuned to nature and via his own experience in time paradoxes.)
Ganondorf laughs at the trio as they struggle to beat back his monsters and knights in order to get to his citadel, and sics a miniboss on them--a knight that can transform into a dragon. The fight carries on, but in typical RPG style they can't quite get a win across; suddenly, Tetra from the Wind Waker appears and slashes a gem under the dragon's right wing using her dagger, breaking its protection and allowing a full kill on it; Tetra joins the party and they manage to best the dragon-knight. The town is still swarming with enemies, but Ganondorf is gone--Link glances at his hand, at the Triforce of Courage, but it isn't shining as it does whenever Ganondorf or Zelda are nearby.
Meanwhile, in the depths of Kongo Jungle, Yoshi, DK and Diddy are cornered by Shy Guys, Ravens and Boos; DK, aware with these enemies but not familiar with them, lets Yoshi lead them into battle--however, they are swiftly beaten back by the sheer number of enemies, and retreat into the jungle. It's there that they encounter an injured Pit, who is lying on the jungle floor unconcious; Diddy, curious, goes over to him and pokes him. That doesn't work, so he begins jumping on his back; still nothing. The baddies are gaining on them, so Yoshi has DK situate Pit on his saddle and they take off again; they run into Medusa, who threatens to turn them all into stone, but they're all distracted by a banana bunch hanging from a nearby tree. Frustrated, Medusa summons up a giant Kremling and flees; Yoshi gets the bananas with his tongue and the three of them start eating, not realizing that the Kremling is sneaking up behind them. Pit, stirred by the vibrations in the ground, wakes up in time and shoots off a drowzy arrow with his bow, accidentally punching Yoshi in the back of the head, causing the dinosaur to lick up one of Diddy's bananas. Angry, Diddy marches up to Yoshi and starts arguing with him--only the two of them turn, slowly, and realize the Kremling is right. Behind. DK. They dodge, but DK gets whacked pretty hard with an open palm from the monster Kremling, leaving the other three to tangle with the boss alone for the time being. DK eventually returns (when the boss is around half health) and tanks til the boss is dead. They then decide to enlist the help of a couple friends of theirs in the Mushroom Kingdom...
Ephraim explains to Link and Tetra how his sister, Eirika, had been taken by the man in brown leather--whom Link and Tetra identify as Ganondorf, though not the one Tetra is familiar with. Link, curious, asks that if that's not the Ganondorf she knows, which one is? She replies that her Ganondorf is much fatter and uses dual broadswords instead of a single claymoore. She reveals that she was at one point Princess Zelda, but had abandoned that form with Ganondorf's defeat in her time. Link, dubious, said that he knew Zelda and Tetra was not she; he held up his hand to prove his point, but the Triforce of Courage was glowing brightly, and the Triforce of Wisdom was on Tetra's hand. Marth and Ephraim guess that the same thing happening to their realm is happening to Link and Tetra's, and the quartet (with Epona) agree that they can leave the other FE characters to clean up while they search out more aid to fight against Ganondorf. Knowing there would be some sound warriors in Hyrule, Link suggests they return there, and they head back into the woods...
...only to realize, it's gotten quite sticky quite fast. They run into the same horde of Boos, Shyguys and Ravens that DK, Diddy and Yoshi had left behind them and try to take them on--again, the gang beats our heroes back, but at that time Yoshi and his party encounter Link and his party; realizing Link et al are in trouble, Yoshi's crew gets on the opposite side of the mob and takes advantage of the flanking position they just created. Marth, realizing they now have the strategic advantage, urges his team to jump in and start attacking. The party can now be arranged mid-battle to include any four characters, and, in the form of a miniboss, the mob of enemies are defeated using their joint forces. Link's group, instead of returning to Hyrule, stumbled into the Kongo Jungle--Diddy, being the only one familiar with the area who can talk, explains that they were on their way to get a pair of powerful allies and, while Link's group's help wasn't unwanted, more power wouldn't be a bad thing. Link agrees, and they head into the Mushroom Kingdom via a warp pipe nearby.
Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi are confronted by K. Rool and The Black Knight in their own front yard (using their house from Paper Mario as reference to their living place); They deliver the message about their missing Princess, and when the Marios challenge them to a battle, they laugh and run off in the direction of Peach's castle. The Marios give chase and find the Castle inside in ruins--clearly, a large enemy force had passed through here and the Toads, ill-equipped for such an invasion, got pushed aside as K. Rool and The Black Knight took Peach. The Marios rush to Peach's quarters, where K. Rool is still waiting for them; he laughs and disappears, just in time for Petey Piranha to drop down through the roof. The Marios fight and beat Petey, and are about to leave the castle when it's taken by a sudden, violent shaking; with a familiar laugh, Bowser appears in the main lobby, Wario and Waluigi on either side of him. None of them fight; instead, they release King Bob-Omb from his painting in the nearby Bob-Omb Battlefield room, as well as Goomboss. The Mario Brothers, confident they could beat these bosses again, are in for a surprise when Bowser uses familiar heart-shaped beams from his mouth to jack up both minibosses; The Marios, out matched, are saved last minute by the combined Yoshi-Link party.
From here, action would shift to Modern Fantasy and then to Scifi, in similar fashions--except for Sci-Fi, people would "encounter" each other via their space ships, and crash-land on Pop Star.
I'll go into this more tomorrow...I'm so freaking tired right now.

A little much..... AIts ok. I didn't like two things. 1)That you set into 3 categories and 2)that you juse the "villans capture females". Its a tad cliche in the Nintendo universe.
If I am to do a stratagy then Palutena would be a character. I was wondering. If these characters have there own set of skills wouldn't that get cumbersom. Does anyone know how some other Tactics or Stratagy RPGs work?

I don't like the summons thing, I'd preffer for them to be actual characters, and to not have a limit on the amount of characters from one series.

For the characters for the traditional RPG Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, DK, Link, Zelda, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Red, Marth, C. Falcon, Ness, Pit, Wario. I was hoping to have 2 more chaaracters and I need another power one. My thoughs for more characters were: Lip, K.K. Slider, Roy, Poo, or Flint. I was also thinking if I should use Red or May.

Well, you can't please everyone I guess, regardless of how much effort you put into something.
The character limit and kidnapping of ladytypes were both implemented for specific reasons, if you're interested in hearing them. The character limit is there because without moderation, the number of playables becomes unruly and hard to keep clean.
The kindapping of ladytypes is because, in general, the games' females tend to be stronger than the games' males. Giovonni, Oikonny and Ganondorf put their heads together and found a way to transfer those powers to the respective villains. Bowser with a stat-buffer attack? How much more dangerous would that make him? Considering how his usual attacks are either burning things, jumping on things, or throwing things, he could use a little bit of that mix. Same thing goes for the others. What if Ganondorf got his hands on Zelda's Triforce of Wisdom, and Oikonny found a way to use Krystal's staff and psychic abilities? These villains who are for the most part easy to defeat gain a whole new edge.
So is it cliché? Yeah. Am I making it work to my advantage? Very yes. As somebody who's been writing stories for over a decade, I can take some pretty overused ideas and make them interesting again.

Yes it does make scence but it think it would be better if you didn't use the cliches.

Personally I'd view a Strategy RPG as a way to cram as many characters into one game without making the game horribly unbalanced, as in the case of fighting games. I think it should be developed by Intellegent Systems, as that's their forte.
I also believe a game like this could be made for an occasion such as Nintendo's next anniversary, or something like that. Such as the case with Namco, but they screwed that up by asking Capcom for help.
The main character should be Captain N. Now I know some of you may cringe at this due to the crappyness of the show, but Nintendo could re-design him for the new generation and even give him a Wii-mote as a weapon. Maybe have it transform into different types of weapons, like a gun, sword, etcetera. I chose him because he represents us, the Nintendo fans, and he could have no dialouge and stuff to better establish a link between the game and the player.
As for the worlds and characters, there could be a main "hub" world that serves as a sort of resting point for the player. It could be a city populated by obscure, one-off Nintendo characters with lots of shops and stuff. From there, you'd have a world based around each of Nintendo's main franchises. There should be hundereds of characters in total, thought not all of them would be playable, and some of them would be summon-able. ( This is starting to sound like Jump Supertars.) Same goes for the items, all of which would come directly from every Nintendo game that's ever had items in them.
For the plot, I'd say that all the villains form an alliance and and plan to conquer the enitre Nintendo-verse using some sort of plot device, like NOVA from Kirby Super Star or something like that (this opens an opportunity for a Marx boss battle ( ;D). Captain N would be an ordinary kid from our world summoned there to form an army of Nintendo heroes and lead them to victory against the villains. There could also be a few side-plots having to do with each world.
That's about all I can think of for now, but next time I'll actually post some ideas for what's in the game.

If I recall correctly, Nintendo doesn't own Captain N directly. I might be wrong though, so feel free to set me straight.

Actually, I'm not sure if they do. But even if they don't, they could either:
1) Buy the rights to him from DiC
B) Create a new character that's a lot like Captain N.
