I deffinatly would have thought they would have made sure everything was there and ready before putting the Pak in the Stars Catalogue, or at least stating a more realistic arrival time than the 48hrs processing time which was on the site, in the e-mail and what many people were told over the phone.
It wasn't too much of a supprise to me, since I was told when I phoned on Tuesday afternoon that I should recieve it sometime before the end of next week.
But then again, maybe they're just covering their backs with the "around late next week" comment. But still, this could have been arranged better. Ah well.

But I still expect it to arrive sooner rather than later... I was told it would be processed in 48 hours. Was that a lie? Well, I paid by debit and didn't have to fill in a form, but I was told 2-3 WEEKS. Maybe the guy was just covering their backs, just in case... I'd like to think so. So I'm just going to quietly sit and wait... maybe I'll order more Pokémon DVDs. They have to come from America, but they'll probably arrive sooner than my DS by the looks of it...

It looks like everything is finally sorted out... Hopefully.
"The first DS packs are now being despatched, however there are 3000 orders to quality check, pack and process so most customers will be receiving their orders around the middle of next week onwards.
I thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

It looks like some people are starting to recieve their Paks. A member of the Ninty forums who goes by the name Gentleben, claimed that his arrived yesterday evening. Of course, everyone was very sceptical about whether we was lying or not, so he posted this as proof: Also, apparently the t-shirt has "touch me" on the front. (I'm not 100% sure about that though.)

Bah. It's Saturday which means I won't get it till Monday earliest. Which means I can't play it till I get back from work... well... unless I go into Game and tease my former work colleagues.
What's he doing getting a delivery at that time of day anyway?

i got mine just now at about 13:10... the t-shirt indeed says 'touch me' on it. And it says 'Nintendo VIP' on the back. It's size is XL.
I'm guessing other peoples' should arrive today as well, since I ordered a few days after everyone else, I think. Going to go play Mario 64 DS now. ;D

Ooh, I hope mine's waiting for me when I get home! That would be cool... I need a new Mario game, as I finally got all 120 Shines in Super Mario Sunshine over the weekend.
But I suppose I do have to try and beat more of my Gamecube games... still gotta complete Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Pokemon Colosseum, Metroid Prime 2, Crystal Chronicles, Pikmin 2... not to mention all of the sports and racing titles... *sigh*

First impressions (more for those still waiting):
The system itself is chunky, as has been said many times before. It's the width of the original GBA, but it's thick as well. I didn't believe the doubters who said it wasn't really pocket size... but it isn't. Unless you have really big pockets (which I suppose is the fashion these days).
Open the clamshell lid and all is forgotten. It looks good, it has lots of buttons, and the screens are large and pretty. There's a little holder for the stylus in the back... but I didn't realise how small the stylus would be. It's actually fairly tricky to grip at first. A taller version, like a pen, would be ideal. And yes, the bottom screen smudges up quite easily.
But what about the games?
Turn on the DS and you will be prompted to enter your "handle", the date, the time, your birthday, and some other stuff. The system will then power down for the settings to take effect. Turn it back on and you're presented with a menu. If you have a DS or GBA game, select the relevant options and start playing. Alternatively, search for others in the area for wireless multiplayer linkup, or select Pictochat.
Pictochat I have yet to find an occupied chatroom. Being one of the first people in the country to own a DS probably doesn't help. Nevertheless, writing is simple (all the Japanese hiragana and katakana are present, as are a qwerty keyboard and lots of other icons). Simply tap! Then drawing is pretty fun, but it's more Mario Paint (with one colour) than Photoshop. I expect once I find an occupied chatroom it will be better.
Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt (demo) I'll say this - it looks gorgeous. The animation is as smooth as anything I've seen on a 3D console, which counteracts the slightly blocky textures. NST (who developed this, rather than Retro) have fallen back on their fondness of videos though, so I hope there's a few less of them in the final release. The controls are surprisingly easy to handle as well. I've been using the thumb strap and the right-hand buttons to play, and you can strafe, look around, jump (with a double-tap on the touch screen) and of course shoot. Switching to the morph ball is a touch screen option (rather irritatingly placed under where my thumb is), and so are the missiles (even more irritatingly placed too far away for my thumb to reach). Still, I've had very few problems with it so far, and I'm sure I'll get used to it.
WarioWare Touched! (demo) This one's for our American readers as well. Turn the game on and you get a title screen. Lots of strange things appear on it, and grabbing them with the stylus (as this is really a stylus game) will yield a range of interesting effects - especially the stars that leave rainbow trails behind them as you drag them around. Anyway, start playing and you see Wario on his bike as a selection of around 20 microgames (including a boss stage) are fired your way. These include some familiar ones from the screenshots - pull the loo roll off the holder, pull the coins into the purse, shoot the clay pigeons out of the air (from Duck Hunt)... and so on. Stage 15 is a bouncy boss stage, and then the levels get harder. Some will repeat, but that can't be helped at this stage. Still, it will be one of the finer games, and one I intend to snatch up at release on the 11th March.
Super Mario 64 DS The only complete game in the package came as a surprise. Start the game and choose your save option. The game starts with a little intro film, and you begin as Yoshi. The first thing you'll notice is the graphics are crisp and in one respect look better than the original... but the textures are also blockier, so it's a double-edged sword. Nevertheless, all of the levels and characters have had a major redesign. I found myself rushing into levels just to see what the enemies looked like now. The Bob-omb King has a luxurious moustache, Bowser looks like... Bowser... and again the animation is astounding. But it doesn't control like a dream. I'm getting used to it a bit more now, but I've been using the thumb strap to get the virtual analogue feel, and the analogue works wherever you drop your thumb onto the screen. But as you move your thumb, the analogue moves away from your target area too. So your thumb either hits the edge of the screen, or your character slows to a slight trot. Maybe I'm missing a trick, but it doesn't control as smoothly as MPH:FH. It's my one gripe, though, as I've been chugging through the game at a comfortable pace, but losing a few more lives than I'm usually comfortable with. And I've been onto some of the secret levels, including the island with the Delfino Isle theme, and the King Goomba palace. It always was an excellent game, and it still is... but it's not really a replacement.
My first impressions are good... but I'm looking forward to getting my hands on some new games for it.

Well, I can't say I thought that much of Metroid Prime: Hunters... but hopefully the final game will be better. I seriously can't wait for Wario Ware: Touched! I played that demo for ours, and so did my mum, who very, very rarely plays video games. Mario 64 DS... I've had it for a couple of days and I'm on the final boss already. That's not a bad thing. I've enjoyed it like crazy. It's a shame you can't select a character at the start of each stage, though... you 'sort of' can if you're playing as Yoshi, but then whichever character you're using has Yoshi's voice... Wario with Yoshi's voice freaks me out a little...
