That's very well thought-out and spot-on. I don't see that many spelling errors, but whatever. So yeah, good job narrowing it all down.

I want to get this game but Im really worried about the length. I checked it out in my local gaming store and the graphics, sound and gameplay all seem excellent. I also liked Smashchus review.
I havent got too much money at the minute so I dont want to buy a game that wont last me very long. I wanted to know if collecting all the star coins is a lengthy challenge and if it will keep me on my DS Lite. Thanks

I have New Super Mario Bros.! Yay! For a Mario veteran, the game is quite easy to complete. But now I'm going back through, collecting all the Star Coins and trying to find all the alternate pathways, and it definitely seems to extend the life of the game quite some way. Ah, and even if it doesn't... it feels like a Mario game. It feels like the kind of game you want to play through a load of times just for the sake of it. It has elements from SMB, SMB3, SMW and even SM64 in there. It's fantabulous. But it and stop your griping

I have the game too, since last Thursday. I effing love it. The game is indeed fairly easy but getting all of the Star Coins is proving to quite a challenge.
It's got some neat little touches... for example, the enemies and powerups moving along with the music. There's something incredibly amusing about seeing Koopas make a quick turn at the 'wa-wa-ing' of the background music.
EDIT: Plus, Bowser Jr.'s mischievous laugh is friggin' adorable.

There is a good amount of replay value though. If your a Mario fan then get this game. You'll love it.

There's something incredibly amusing about seeing Koopas make a quick turn at the 'wa-wa-ing' of the background music. Yeah, that's pretty wacky and funny. It's a little annoying, though, when it messes up the timing of a jump (especially if I have the sound down) and you land in front of the Koopa and get hit. I also noticed that the Goombas jump and power-ups bounce at those times. It's pretty funny to think that the characters in the game are also listening to the background music.

I don't get what the issue with length is. First of all, there's more stages than SMB, SMB3 and probably even SMW. Second, the stages, on average, are the same length as SMW's. Thirdly, it's a portable game, and the best portable games are supposed to be played in short bursts.
Finally, and most importantly, of course it's fairly quick to play. It's friggin' Mario! We've been playing these games for near two decades some of us, so no wonder we're actually getting quite good at them by now.
My two cents on the matter.

The only problem that I can see with the game is the incredibly stupid lack of save options before you finish the game - having to reach a Mushroom house with at least 5 coins isn't the best saving method for a portable game, thats for sure.
The rest is lovely.

My only gripe is that you can never find a Mini Mushroom when you need one - and when you do find one, you have to complete that level before you can use it in other levels (no Start and Select cheating this time round).
And you need the Mini Mushroom all the damn time when you're trying to track down all of the Big Coins and secret exits. Damnit!
But still awesome!

Good choice, I wanted to get black. In fact I took the black box up to the counter but the guy said they had all sold out. He told me they werent getting any in until next week so I thought about it and decided to get the white one cuz I didnt want to wait. But it still looks damn good.
