Guess Manafi is a legendary, what I thought was a pre-evo was actually a counterpart.

Not everyone can get a Manaphy, but everyone could have a Fione if they wanted one.
Its alot better than just missing out because you don't have a copy of Ranger and live in Japan.

It would been MUCH better if it evolved. It is the same pokemon with 2 less moves and lower stats. Talk about useless. Only helpful foir you Pokedex. It is nice you can get vertually the same pokemon w/out rangers, but then you dont have Manaphy. Maybe they should just cut the "event only pokemon" crap.

Nah, you're spot on - they should cut the event only crap.
But its not gonna happen, so its better than nothing.

Sometimes Pokemon are there to play a part in the story because, believe it or not, it's not all a Lv100 Multiplayer Battle game.
I enjoy the "Catch 'Em All" aspect - the thrill of the hunt, if you will. Note how around 50% of the Pokemon in existence become useless once you reach the Multiplayer battle stage - all pre-evos, for example. Then you trim off any final-stage evolutions with inadequate stats and movesets. Then you trim off any that are considered HAXXORS. And before you know it, there's about 20 Pokemon that you will ever see from a selection of over 400.
So complaining that one doesn't quite fit the bill for Lv100 battles is kinda missing the point.
I am saddened that Double Battles went largely unnoticed in the Ruby/Sapphire generation. Hopefully with online multiplayer, that will end now.

And the fact that most tournaments ban legendaries. And wobbuffet for some strange reason. As for 2-on-2 battles, I think the reason why they're not usually done is because nearly everyone has teams where by 4 or 5 of the pokemon have earthquake as one of their moves.

This bares a topic-bump I think, even by a few months. A bunch of 4Gen Pokemon names have been translated; they've been revealing about one a week for the last month or so, but yesterday Serebii.net posted a whole slew of new names: serebii.net/index2.shtmlSome of those are average, you know, not worth noting...but Chimchar is a ludicrous name. I get what they're playing for, but it's almost as bad as Squirtle as far as names go.

All moves are changed completely, Now Bite is going to be Physical and Hyper Beam is now Special. All depending on contacts.

I read about the move changes, and I definitely think that's an interesting move to make. That definitely shakes up the whole current system, and should hopefully lead to some all new goodies. Chimchar is a rockin' name. And so is Squirtle Spoink still wins though.

Those move mechanics changes depend on solidity/non-solidity more often than on contact (even though some contact moves are also Special).
I like some of the names, including Turtwig, Carnivine, and even Pachirisu if it stays that way. Via the show, Chatot has been confirmed as an official name for the talking parrot. Via the official site, Palkia and Dialga were finally confirmed. Other reported by Serebii.net are Buizel, Mantyke, and Electivire (check the archived news at Serebii.net).
Just two and a half months more for D/P in America!!

Squirtle is one of my favourite Pokémon names. And it's voice just makes it even cooler. ;D I've already seen a hundred "WHY? ? THE JAPANEES NAMS WER SO MUCH KEWLER" topics in Pokémon forums, but I think all these names are perfect. I'm especially fond of Turtwig and Carnivine. But I don't really like that Pachirisu is keeping the Japanese name, personally. It's not like Pikachu or Togepi, which roll off the tongue fairly easily in both English or Japanese. It just sounds awkward however I say it. EDIT: I'm not too fond of Mantyke, either. I just keep hearing "Man-child" instead.

Also, I'm not sure if you guys care as much, but I'm trying to start a clan for this game, and was goiong to ask if anyone would care to join. Nothing to competative, just for kicks.

The best Pokemon name is, and likely always will be, Farfetch'd and you all better recognise, yo.
Palkia and Dialga are terrible names. I get they were trying to romanise Parukia and Diaruga, but they sound just like bad, NES style direct translations.
Whats with Pochama keeping his Japanese name, too? Surely they could have combined penguin with some sort of water word to make a name ala the other two starters.
