I thought a game like this would be published by Nintendo, but apparently it's not. It's a Nintendo Switch Online service, and I thought Nintendo would own the "99" concept. Also, late reply, but in regards to Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light... I guess the limited time offer has to do with the game being an anniversary celebration. A lot of the physical games they released in the past were limited too; they just didn't explicitly state so. This is unusual for a download-only game not bound by license, though. I think what might happen is that about a year from now (or sometime in 2022) it will be brought back and simply added to the Switch Online NES app in North America and Europe. I think they were just giving people a chance to own a copy before that. That's kind of what happened with Star Fox 2. Initially, it was only available on the SNES Mini/Classic, but a year later, it was added to the Switch Online SNES app. Maybe, but the localised version of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light feels very different from a typical NES game. It does things not possible on an actual NES. They'll need to modify the host program rather than just adding a modified ROM to the library, which makes it a bit different from Star Fox 2. But speaking of that, I was surprised to see them bother with SuperFX emulation in the first place.

It seems like Pac-Man 99 uses Nintendo's proprietary Bezel engine. I imagine Nintendo pitched the idea to Bamco, and then they let Arika and Bamco do the rest.

Remember how Labo kits 1-3 having the 2D Labo Toy-Con Garage programming mode? Remember how the Virtual Reality Labo kit had the much better 3D object Toy-Con Garage programming mode? Now it's back with new colorful cartoony interface and no cardboard required. Was going to put this in the eShop thread but it's actually getting a physical release (download version is 10.5 GB). There will also be mouse support in docked mode. Creations can be shared online via codes (something Labo's Garage couldn't do). I'm happy to see Labo's Garage mode to get a new lease on life, while the little cartoony nodes icons (look at that happy little control stick icon!) remind me of the cartoony music bugs on the cover of Toshio Iwai's Sound Fantasy and SimTunes.

Great for those who want the Nintendo Labo games for its DIY potential but don't want the cardboard. I wonder what's the extent of its creative capabilities?

As someone who got tired of making courses in Super Mario Maker, I don't think this is for me. But other people will probably make some insanely cool things with it.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp has been delayed due to "recent world events."
To be honest, I kinda wondered if Nintendo might do this.

Pilotwings 64 has been released as of yesterday, and if you haven't seen it, NOA made this incredible relaxing trailer with a smooth voiceover for it. The game also runs 60 fps (unlike the original).
In a bizarre bit of trivia, P64 might be retro Nintendo game to have have the longest re-release time, just over 26 years from it's original debut (N64 launch June 23, 1996 (JP), Sep 29, 1996 (NA)). For comparison fellow launch title Super Mario 64, was 8 years until its NDS launch title remake and 10 years until the Wii Virtual Console release in Nov 2006.

If releases by companies other than Nintendo count, wouldn't Sky Skipper beat this record at about 37 years (1981 and 2018)? Even if the Atari 2600 version from 1983 counts, that'd still be 35 years.

Nintendo has released Joy Mech Fight and Kirby's Star Stacker on NSO. This is the first time they've been officially released outside Japan.

In time for Halloween!
Devil World finally gets released in North America!
Also the first console release of Mysterious Mususame Castle previously only available on 3DS. Why it wasn't also released on Wii U (considering Nintendo Land was there), who knows? Nintendo re-release logic at it's finest!
And Castlevania Legends for GB, if anyone wanted that.

F-Zero 99 is getting mirror mode, mirror mode grand prix (with new hazards like bumper mines) and a steering wheel assist function as well as limited time challenges on 28th March. www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/03/f-zero-99-is-getting-a-new-update-version-1-3-0-heres-whats-includedWhile for NSO, the GBA F-Zero Maximum Velocity will be added on the 29th. EDIT: This is the last of the GBA games that was revealed in the March 2023 Direct (did it need to be dragged out that long?). Another interesting note, the map in the corner of the screen doesn't seem to flash in and out of existence (like on GBA, 3DS or Wii U) but remain present on screen at all times at least in the trailer.

This is interesting. I checked the trailer; it's not some "video runs at 30 fps so it skips every other frame" shenanigan.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition has been announced.
Looks more like a successor to the NES Remix series.
