I was bold and decided to forego buying a Wii at launch--it would be sold out no matter where I went and it certainly would be available by the time Brawl came out. How wrong I was. There are no Wiis ANYWHERE either here in Vermont near school or at home in Connecticut. All my friends either got their Wiis at launch or lucked out and found some while on vacations across the country/driving through various towns. I have had no such luck. If anything, I would kill for a Wii. Not literally, but it sucks ass because almost all the Wiis known to man sell out within a hour of stocking. You must be up at 3am and waiting until store opening to be guaranteed anything. And all the stores I contact either by phone or in person are getting increasingly irate about people asking for Wiis and Nintendo not sending any out. Online they all sell for WELL over the MSRP, and I am incredibly hurt enough to have to pay 250 bucks for one already--I'm not exactly the wealthiest guy around by a very long shot. If anybody can provide any help or answers as to where the hell I can get a Wii at this point in the year it would be very much appreciated. Whenever I have found them I don't have the money, and when I have the money they aren't around. It's aggravating beyond belief and I almost feel like Nintendo abandoned me, a regular and loyal customer for over 20 years. I already signed up for a cell phone service that alerts me when they become available online at the MSRP, and I frequent forums like www.fatwallet.com where people spout off towns that have Wiis in stock. But this is absolutely killing me. If only I was smarter, y'know? Shoulda bought one way back when I didn't need it just yet. Ugh...

Keep you're eyes on local Toys 'R' Us or similar stores that stock video games, less people go to these places to buy wiis so they more than likely have a few extra.

Oh, I frequent TRU, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. for Wiis and they are just as likely to get sold out. The funny thing is that last I went to TRU they had like... 30 Wiis in stock maybe mid-October and I just never bought one because I wanted to wait until after the holidays. I'm such an idiot. Circuit City gets shipments at different times than the rest, but apparently everybody BUT GameStop/EB has yet to get a shipment since the holidays. GS/EB get shipments every few weeks that sell out very quickly.

The less people shop there the higher your chances.

That's the thing that really bothers me: there's no "next town over" here in Vermont, and so my only bet is where I am right now or booking it to Canada where I'd end up paying more. I can't go home to get one until after Brawl's release, but there's a greater chance of finding one there. I could ask my folks to hunt for me, but that's a bigger task than they'd like to handle.

I was pretty lucky when I got mine I guess. I literally just strolled in and bought one, no preorder or anything and this was the month after the first release. Dont buy off auction sites or things that you cant fully trust. I know someone who bought a Wii on ebay and got a dictionary and a few house bricks. Random! And he paid 300...

Did he report the guy?

This is driving me crazy.. I've spent my entire day hunting. Is there no mercy for the Nintendo fan? Apparently the Nintendo World Store in NYC gets a shipment every day and there are always massive lines outside in the AM. And Nintendo refuses to let you buy direct. This is insane... I've started pissing off stores.

Nintendo just havent come close to meeting the demand. The only thing you can do is probably preorder it and just wait. Although those aren't always reliable, a friend of mine preordered a game and they sold his preorder anyway to a random n00b. Wow. That sucks. Did he report the guy? Im not sure what he did. I think he reported the "theif" but apparently he couldn't be traced or some lame ebay excuse. Whatever happened £300 is a lot to pay for a dictionary

This may sound a little lame, but I got mine about a month after release because I kept showing up at the same GameCrazy every day at the same time (usually after the delivery truck had been there) for about three or four weeks. The employee that worked there just started to feel sorry for me, so she reserved one for me from their next shipment.
I happened to be at a Circuit City this morning, just as they were opening up (about 10:00 AM), and there was an employee handing out Wii vouchers. He said something about them getting only 10 in a shipment. You might want to try that.

Are there any game stores around other than EB/GameStop? I live in Michigan and we also have Play 'N' Trade, which I think is a franchise, as well as a local store called Vidiots. Also, if it's possible, try and put aside $250 for your Wii. That way, it'll be there when you find one.

I was up at the crack of dawn on launch day to get mine. With DS fever running high, and the Wii looking to set on a similar path, I was sure that they'd be hard to come by sooner or later.
I didn't realise they'd be THIS hard to come by THIS soon! And for what? Mario Galaxy? Twilight Princess? No... Wii Sports. Goddamn consumers.

I got mine on Halloween at Target. I had a (correct) hunch that this post-holiday chaos was likely to happen, so I took the plunge (thankfully, I was able to pay for it). It's insane how hard they are to find. It really is. XD

Yeah, money doesn't grow on trees as of late in the household so it has been a massive two year scrunch to get things out of the way so that, eventually, I would be able to accumulate the two-fifty quid necessary for the console. I will have the money within a week or two from now, and luckily Brawl's delay eases the pain of purchasing quickly.
I heard about the Circuit City deal but they said they had none when I called that afternoon. I have no means of transportation until after the Brawl release, so I have to rely on friends who are not always able due to all sorts of schedule conflicts. In essence, I picked the worst possible time to buy a Wii.
What's the biggest insult, and I stand by this 100%, is that Nintendo seems to be completely and unabashedly ignoring the demand. They are pushing production to fullest capacity, no doubt. But trickling out Wiis is only going to hurt demand in the process. This is getting ridiculous beyond belief, esp. when a loyal fan and customer has been screwed at every turn by the soccer moms and casual teens of America. If I was only smarter back in October when we saw that 30+ Wii display and didn't decide to give it a few more months. It was apparently the only point where Wii supply was greater than demand, or at least the greatest it has been, in most of New England. Vermont barely gets anything (stores still close at 6 up here) and Connecticut is a hotbed for upset when it comes to finding anything in stores--my Gamecube took me three days across 30 stores even a month and a half after release. I had to wait a year to get a DS or SP as well, for similar reasons.
