I found this funny commercial for Galaxy online. It has someone from JAXA (that's Japan's equivalent of NASA and ESA) explaining the concepts of gravity and rotation. They also talk about launching space shuttles.

First Day sales: 130k
People (fanboys) are playing this off as a complete bomb. Of course, keep in mind this is better then most game's weekly sales (big launches too) and was on a weekend.

1Up gave this a quite glowing review. As for the sales numbers, can't see any harm in 130,000 units in two days.

Alright, unlike many other games I'm hardly reading any info and not watching any trailers for this game. You know... to have some 'Haha, that's awesome' moments while I'm actually playing the game.
Though I thought I heard somewhere that there are a crapton of stages this time around and the stages don't have more then 4 stars to collect or so. Any of you guys can clarify that?

It was confirmed early on that there'd be 40 galaxies and six worlds, whatever that meant.

Pre-Order Insanity: Gamespot has a special "free shipping" deal that ends tomorrow (just buy Mario and use MARIO as a coupon code online), and Toys R Us is coughing up $25 gift cards to those who buy it in the store. Also, if you pre-order from a participating retailer, you'll net this coin seen in this link. Better do it before November 11th...or it'll be too late. Also, for those who don't mind being spoiled, here's that hidden character SChu mentioned earlier - Link

Iwata is doing a series of Iwata Asks for Super Mario Galaxy. So far, he has interviewed the producer and director, members of the development team, and the sound team. Later, he's going to interview Miyamoto. Link

Okay, much kudos to y'all for keeping the 100% completion reward behind spoilertags. I've been avoiding finding out what it is myself, and while I know a little more now than I did before (that it's a new character), I still don't know who it is. Yes, I'm a little bit dumb for not figuring it out, but still.
Anyway! I'm 23 stars in at this moment and I've almost completed the first two Galaxies' worth of worlds. There's so much old-school-meets-new-school about this entire game, and I love it; the music, the level design, the controls, everything about the game wins. The only issue I have with it so far is that there are planetoids in areas like Battle Star and Space Junk (where you pretty much have free reign over whatever you can possibly land on) where you can only walk on one surface. It sucks to walk over an edge and die when you think you're gonna just walk on the underside of the object XD But that's really a small tiny little thing.

Well... I got the game today. Currently 18 Stars in, and loving it. ;D This game feels like a direct sequel to SMB3. I'm not saying I think SMB3 was the last good game, or the best in the series. It's just that there's so much this game has in common SMB3. From the music (there are more SMB3 remixes in this one game than I've heard in the rest of the series combined, I think), to the animal costumes, to the... fact that the Koopas walk on all fours.

I'm almost done with the game, and yes: it oozes old-school. Very, very worthy sequel. I will never put it down, just like the old days of Mario 64.
My only qualms are that most powerups are timed and that you can easily breeze by the game if you collect all the stars in a dome before moving on.

I have yet to encounter the Spring Mario powerup, but I have gotten my hands on the oh-so-delciousRed Star; seriously, this is the first time you can fly in a Mario game with almost no limitations as to where you can travel. Screw the Leaf, Tanooki Suit, Cape, Carrot and Wing Cap; the Red Star has them all beat!
