Why do people assume Jr. and Diddy would be middleweights? This is based on their sizes in Double Dash/weights in Arcade GP, so Diddy and Jr. would have to be lightweights.
Watch the retro character be some BS like DK Jr. That would piss so many people off.

Well, DK Jr. was one of the original 8 so it doesn't seem very far off, to me anyway..

All the vehicles have emblems on them so the emblem design mode may come back. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they let us use a Mii's head as well.
Hopefully however they'll let us use a JPEG from an SD card as an emblem.

That means we already can figure out a good chunk of the final roster and, frankly, we won't get many newbies. Lightweight: Toad, Koopa Troopa, Baby Mario, Baby Peach, *Baby Luigi, *Boo. **Toadette, **Bowser Jr. Middleweight: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, *Daisy, **Diddy Kong, **Rosalina, **Monty Mole Heavyweight: Bowser, DK, Wario, Waluigi, **Petey, **Birdo, **Hammer Brother, **DK Jr. As much as I want them to bring back Wart and other retros, I bet my entire miniscule fortune there will be a super-predictable roster. Monty Mole beats out others because it's way more likely, Wart loses to DK Jr. because we all know it'll play out that way, and Petey stays because he's frigging Petey :/ I'd be surprised if we see Toadette and Diddy, but I want to say they're in because we do get some wiggle room. Rosalina is a common guess. EDIT: Apparently it got worse: Nintendo Power is stating there are only SIX unlockable characters. How can they say this is the largest Kart roster yet when Double Dash had 20? XD

Lightweights
Baby Luigi-We have Baby Mario and Peach. I wouldn't doubt Luigi fills the gap
Toadette-Not too much reason. I assum with toad and a lot of space to fill, it will happen
Diddy-I was thinking paratroppa, but it just seems so likely. In a chance to use Diddy (and the next one)
Dry Bones-An odd choice, but with him in DS, I beleive that they'll add him to fill in another slot. Plus he seemed quite liked.
Medium
Daisy-Did no one else see this one coming
Birdo-Not too sure on this one. Not too many mediums to chose. I'm guessing that she might make an apperience
Bowser Jr.-With the weight ideas changing, I wouldn't be surprised he becomes medium, and with all his apperiences, he might make it.
Excitebiker-Watch it happen. I haver a hunch
Heavy
Petey Piranha-When Nintendo needs a heavy weight, they love to bring in this guy.
ROB-I think they'll voiche with this unique decision again.
King Boo-As a character from DD, I think he'll be added to fill another heavy weight slot
Tatanga-He seems likely, I guess. Not too many heavy weights, and there is the rumor of returning a character.
