Which game do you think could be a good option to re-release as SMA5? I would like Super Mario RPG (agreement with Square) or a better version of Super Mario Land or 6 Golden Coins.

Super Mario RPG HAS to be it... simply because it was never released here in Europe, and it's pretty cool. But I agree a new game would be even cooler (though Mario & Luigi filled that hole for a while )

I don't think Square and Nintendo have patched things up -that- well...
We all know Nintendo is making a new SMB-esque game on DS. So if Nintendo were to do a SMA5, I'd want to see a full blown remake of Super Mario Land. And that would mean new levels too, completely redone from the ground up.
And secret levels would be cool, but not with an e-reader.

SMA5 should be a new game. If they are going to rerelease any of the Game Boy SML games, they should not be in the SMA series.

I don't think Square and Nintendo have patched things up -that- well... Au Contraire! Nintendo and Square Enix are close enough to consider the idea. More importantly, a significant number of the designers who worked on the original are now at Alphadream, who are VERY close to Nintendo these days. A combination of the two are probably why we finally got to see Geno in Alphadream's Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I'm hoping for Super Mario Advance 5: Super Mario RPG anyway... I'm not hoping for another blummin' edition of Mario Bros. Classic though...

Sometimes it amazes me how many developers there are out there made up of ex-Square employies.

I also think SMA5 should be Super Mario RPG.
However, because the Super Mario Land games are so small, it might be neat to see them re-released on a single game cartridge for the GBA. I'm thinking of something along the lines of Super Mario All-Stars. It can include SML, SML2, the first Wario Land, and maybe new renditions of Mario Clash and VB Wario Land since Virtual Boy died pretty fast.

Yes I agree, a Super Mario All-Stars-like game as SMA5 would be really cool! Super Mario Land 2 is one of my favourite GameBoy games... Would be cool to see those games in colour

I dunno - I'm not a fan of the SMA games - I don't like ports of games, only the originals, unless there's someting that is must-have, and so far the only 2 things to reach that level were SM AllStars (SNES) with Lost Levels, and the Zelda Collector's Edition disc for GCN... As for SMRPG - I live in Australia, so we never got it either, but that's why I'm hunting down an NTSC copy and an NTSC SNES to play it on and add it to ,y colelction... the things I do for my collection...

It's hard being from a PAL region isn't it... I'll admit I originally decided against Super Mario Advance... but when they released Yoshi's Island I HAD to buy it - this is the #1 game on any console in the whole world, and I had it on my Game Boy... WITH NEW LEVELS! Then I proceeded to buy Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World as well. And completely beat it in a matter of days. I knew where all the Dragon Coins were because I wrote a guide for Super Mario Bros. Headquarters ages ago and have a good memory (is it even still there?) But I love SMB2 and SMB3 as well... OH the dilemma...

It always snowballs like that, doesn't it? Still, if I got them, then there is no telling where I would stop - I kind of like having a decent but still relatively small collection that I can still keep track of and control, hence my restriction to 2 franchises and even certain restrictions within that - I'm a bit of a control-freak like that...

I didn't know YI had new levels in it. I know SMB3 had those uber-expensive-to-get-and-a-pain-in-the-rear-to-unlock-e-card-reader-levels.

I don't have that e-reader thingy - too much money for something that I don't think I'd ever use...
I don't even have a GBA - I play all my GBA games on my GBA Player...

I didn't know YI had new levels in it. Yep, and all contained within the game as well (we aren't ever getting the e-Reader here by the looks of it). You have the 8 main levels, and though slightly different to the original, you get the old extra levels by collecting loads of points in that world. When you defeat Bowser though, a brand new level opens on every world. I hate to say it, but some of them are ingenious! The level made entirely out of red-switch blocks is terrifying!
