It is hard. I grew up with the NES, but it's still a bloody difficult game! I'm currently on level 1-3, if you want an idea of how hard it is - and I bought it pretty much as soon as it was released in Europe. And I play it regularly. What is has, that most games lack, is that feeling that even though I keep dying, it's MY OWN FAULT, and not a failing in the game itself. It succeeds in this by being very basic - jump and shoot, but by throwing bottomless pits and enemies at you like there's no end. I love this game - like the original Metroid, I absolutely suck at it, but something keeps dragging me back for one more go. And that's what games USED to be like in the 80's

Wow, by the time I beat 3-4, I hated the game, but then I really loved 4-1, and I now realize it was a very good game.
I only got the second best ending though because I used my credit card a ton of times ( once to get back my fire arrows, once to get back my sacred arrows, a few times to get some spare life things for my barrels, and tons of times to get feather falls) so I didn't get out of debt until the end of the game, and even then I finished with a little over 200 hearts.
Great game though, I'm quite happy I spent the wii points on it. ;D
EDIT: if anybody here hasn't beaten it yet, then I suggest replaying through it after you beat it if you don't get the best ending, due to the fact that it lets you keep your max outs, so you can buy tons of feather falls, then get out of debt easily early on in the game.
It's a really really hard game the first time around, but the second time not so much.
I'm just glad that the best two endings involve Pit becoming bigger ( angelic steroids much?) so he finally looks like the captain of the angelic gaurd, and not some 3 year old kid in a cupid costume.
Very good game. ;D

Sorry to bump, but isn't the goofiest ending the one where he grows a stache and puts on war armor? I was just like "wow Nintendo, Pit looks pretty sketchy. thanks"

Hmm... not sure that's supposed to be a 'tash. I think it's just where there's no space/colour distinction between his nose and mouth.

I just did a quick scan of the endings again, zoomed in, whatever... you're right. All these years since I beat it I thought it was a moustache, but I guess not *shrug* But I just realized it was kinda funny how the worst ending he carries a scythe and a traveler's hat. I guess for saving a goddess, Pit can enjoy the glorious life of a Greek peasant?
