Nintendo Stars Section

I want to kickstart the Nintendo Stars section of Nintendo Database again, and to do so I need the help of artists and writers. I rarely find myself with the time to work on these pages myself, as writing the sometimes-massive backstories, and doing the artwork, takes up a considerable chunk of time... especially when I'm not 100% clear on a story myself.

So this is a call out to all. If anyone can help with this section I would be greatly appreciative. You will of course be credited for your work, whether it is written or drawn.

Note also that I am breaking down the first wall of the section - I will now accept heroes, villains or key characters in a series, where before I accepted only heroes.

Just a few notes:

Writers
The backstory can't be too speculative and can't feature things that don't exist in the games. You can't go and give a character a history or family that isn't insinuated or clearly featured in the games themselves.

Artists
I appreciate deviation from official artwork, so avoid direct copying or tracing. I also enjoy some kind of artistic interpretation - try to give a characters your own style rather than aiming to mimic Nintendo's artists.

Write or draw whoever you like, really... and maybe someone else will like your writing/drawing and do an accompanying drawing/written piece for it. Might even be me!

Quite a few people have come up with ideas for the WarioWare characters. They will appear on their own pages, but don't go mad and do them all at once (thus outnumbering everything else).

Hi, I'm Sam. I've been a fan of your site for years now. I've got my own corner of the internet myself at NGEB.net and draw a sometimes-Nintendo-based webcomic Fanboys (www.ngeb.net/fanboys/). I'd love to work on art for this section. Perhaps I could do Ninten or Ness from the Mother series; EarthBound is my all-time favorite game.

You're welcome to draw anyone you like. Ninten and Ness would be a good pairing to get done at around the same time, because a load of people still think they're the same person. Just remember... the trick (as my sister, LalalaKirby, taught me) is that Ninten's hair is spikier than Ness's.

Hey FryGuy,

Can I work on an article on the "Condor" from Ice Climber? I can do the writing and the drawing. In fact I already did! ;D


Twenty years or so, in the caverns of Ice Mountain, lived a bird of prey so mean and cruel that only the bravest mountain climbers can defeat him. The species of this rotten bird was the "Condor".

Virtually the whole species extinct, the Condor flew from its original habitat to the cold mountain peaks on top of the world. Starving from the long trip, the Condor slowly looked for food - all attempts were in vain. Then, looking from the mountain top the Condor spotted a hut with a chimney on the side of the mountain with the sweet aroma of steamed eggplant. Without thinking, he swooped down to the hovel, broke in and stoled all of the 128 vegetables. A couple of moments later, Popo and Nana - the Ice Climber duo - were coming back from their daily climb, when they noticed that their hut had been broken into! Looking all over, they couldn't find their vegetables - it was their only food! The Condor didn't like to fly and carry big loads at the same time, so he walked - with all types of vegetables in-between his wings - all the way back to the top of the mountain. However, the Condor forgot the cover his footprints! Popo and Nana, inspecting the bird-like footprints, quickly realized that a gigantic bird took the vegetables and decided to rightfully get back their beloved food.

Once the Ice Climbers got to the top of the mountain the jumped their way to the top and grabbed the Condor's feet. The Condor hated this very much and after 32 times, the Condor decided that maybe he should find another home. He flew away and left all of the vegetables behind. No one knows what ever happened to the last Condor after Popo and Nana got back their lost vegetables, but if he does come back, this time he will ask the Ice Climbers for their vegetables.


Is it Nintendo Database-worthy material?

Here's the Ninten drawing. Tell me if I should change anything. I've tried my hardest to make him look as non-Ness as possible, but that may not be enough.

If this is cool, I'll get to work on a Ness drawing, then. Should I also write the articles? I could definitely do that, if that's what you were thinking.

I wasn't restricting anyone to anything. If you want to write or draw for any character then feel more than free to do so. My strength is in drawing, but I still had to write all the biographies of the characters currently featured

As for your pic... it's fantastic! No worries there whatsoever. Like I said, I like the artist to sprinkle their own style into a character. ;D
