"Prepare for Trouble, and make it a long, pointless rant, doubled"
Meowth? Meh. You know there are, like, Pokemon games, right? So, like, not every character has to be one of the main stars from the TV show? I am 95% sure that if we end up with another Pokemon, it'll be, God help us, Wobbuffet (sp?). And if so.... ARGHHHHHH!
What about a big, strong, fully evolved Pokemon, rather than another main character from the lame show. Sure, the show was the main factor in making Pokemon popular, but that doesn't mean you can't go out and get a Pokemon that doesn't appear in every one of those dodgy, loosely-plotted things that pass for "entertainment". (yeah, that was harsh. Still...). I suspect Mewtwo only went in so they could have a "bad guy", because, guess what - in the first Pokeomn Movie, he played the role of the "evil" guy. And he was tied into the series.
And I'm rambling. The point is, there are literally hundreds of better choices than Meowth, IMO.

Or maybe have Pikachu, and then have one of the human heroes. I vote for Red or that Wes guy out of Colosseum. That would make for interesting battles. Still, nowt wrong with a bit of Wobbuffet. Though I don't think they'd find the moveset for him... he only attacks in defense.

I really can't stand seeing these new pokemon that are coming out. I prefer the first 150. After that, I feel as if Nintendo's character design went haywire. I mean, look at any pokemon in the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald version.
My opinion is to just keep Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Mewtwo. Sure, a new pokemon fighter would be alright, but keep in mind that pokemons #151 and up are NOTHING compared to the first 150.
Anyways, this is my view of who should be in SSB3.
Mario Luigi Peach Bowser Wario (he can have the same strengh and speed as Dr. Mario, but different attacks) Yoshi Donkey Kong Diddy Kong King K Rool (Captain K Rool would be cool too with that big musket, but he is only in one game, and is not much of a well known villain. Besides, two K. Rools wouldn't work out. The one we all know works just fine.) Yoshi Link Zelda Ganondorf (not a clone though. They should give him sorceror powers, and make him USE that big sword he carries around. Or he can be like the Wind Waker Ganondorf, using two katanas at once. Pretty cool) Captain Falcon Fox McCloud (if they're going to make a Falco, they shouldn't make him a clone. Otherwise, get rid of him) Ness Paula (only if she is a completely new character with attacks that no one else has. I would choose Poo, but imagining that voice calling out "POO" in the character menu would be weird). Kirby Metaknight King Deedeedee Ice Climbers Marth Roy Mr. Game and Watch Samus Marina (from Mischief Makers) Takamaru Pit Little Mac (maybe Mike Jones, but I think that he'd be TOO much like Ness) Isaac Ray Mk II
What Nintendo has got to do is put in new characters from a wide variety of games, games that not many people have heard of, or played. We only knew about Fire Emblem when Marth and Roy first appeared in SSBM. When players first set eyes on a new character, they'll want to know more about that character, and the games they appear in. I must say that they should not create TOO MANY new characters from Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and other famous Nintendo Series. Nintendo really should introduce BRAND NEW characters from games not often heard of, and to this, they really need to create new game franchises just as they are doing now (ex. Geist and Another Code.)

In fact I've been watching my collection of tapes and DVDs a lot recently(I've been embroidering and need to watch something while I do it.) And you insulted the plot, but I don't think it's needs a plot. Bugs Bunny cartoons don't have a plot and some of those are great. And what's wrong with Mewtwo? He's a fully evolved Pokemon, just like you wanted, and a darn cool one too. As for Meowth, I think he'd be a pretty cool addition. Especially if he has the Dancing PokeBaton. That Pokemon Gotta Dance Mini-Movie is hilarious. They could even have Meowth's song from that as a secondary song for a Pokemon stage.

I really don't think Human Pokemon characters would work at all. I mean, they're just normal people, nothing particularly special and interesting about them (except Wes, but not to a huge degree). Let's not forget that the Pokemon games are really about the Pokemon, and so only the Pokemon would really fit in well in Smash Bros. My choice of Meowth was indeed based in part on his presence in the cartoon, but so what? All the Pokemon so far featured in Smash Bros. have major presence in the cartoon, and thus are 'personalities'. I can think of no other Pokemon who would fit in well in this game other than Meowth and maybe Raichu. But many will make Pokeball cameos, so does it matter that much?
I also agree that Nintendo shouldn't be afraid to include more obscure characters. Look at the Namco x Capcom (the as-of-yet released Japanese Strat-RPG I hope comes to North America). It includes TONS of characters from games even the most hardcore players know little about (Tower of Druaga, Forgotten Worlds, Shadowland, Genji & Heike Clans, Burning Force, Side Arm: Hyper Dyne, Bravoman, Wonder Momo, etc.) And while Pit and Little Mac is a start, they could go even farther. Yes, Takamaru, anybody from Pro Wrestling, and the like.
Still, R.O.B. is still very essential. You can't say you don't want him.

I agree that the human Pokemon characters would be pretty dull, which is why their attacks would all involve a varied number of Pokemon from across the three games. Like Mr. Game & Watch has attacks from all sorts of games.
I just had a thought... wouldn't a giant ROB make a good battle arena?

Like Mr. Game & Watch has attacks from all sorts of games. I just had a thought... wouldn't a giant ROB make a good battle arena? There are some things Red could do instead of using Pokemon. Throwing PokeBalls would sorta be like Yoshi's attack. He could use his bike to ram into opponents. And The PokeFlute would be like Jigglypuff's Lullaby, only it would make them dance. Of course if they plan on adding more than one human character then they'd have to go with the Pokemon attacking for them plan. Cause there's not much else they can do to make each of them different.

And what's wrong with Mewtwo? He's a fully evolved Pokemon, just like you wanted, and a darn cool one too. I like Mewtwo, I use him a bit, but I'd still like to see another strong pokemon, rather than a little "cutesy-wootsey-lets-take-you-to-the-beauty-parlour" Pokemon. Yeah, I don't know why I called them that, but I did. And to whoever said the first 151 Pokeomn are better than the rest, I'd agree in general, but there are some pretty good newer ones. IMO, RSE has some good ones with some interesting type combinations. I like Cacturne, for example, and infact, he'd be a good character to have in SSB3, as I assume he appears in the anime (James has a Cacnea - that would have evolved already or be doing so soon, right?), plus he's strong, cool-looking, fully-evolved, from the newest set (I assume that the Pokemon Figther #4 will be from RSE or DP) and would be a bit different to what we already have. My vote is now for Cacturne. As for human characters, it would have been interesting, but it can't work now, anyway.

I like most of the Pokemon from G/S/C, they had a trippy quality to them (Girafarig, Natu/Xatu, Unown), however I think some of the newer (as in R/S/E) are kinda derivative. Butwhen it all comes to it, the Pokemon they will use will always be 'personalities', AKA the most popular. Meowth, I'd say, comes right after Pikachu and Mewtwo in that respect. Plus, he's be really cool.

I would like to see Pulsu (sp?) & Minun as a team (like Ice Climbers) in SSB3. However, I would love to see some super powerful Pokemon as well. The other day I was doodling on my drawing paper and came up with some new characters (besides Bubbles) that I would love to see in SSB3. What do you think? I think Diskun and Sheriff would make GREAT characters for SSB3.

I love your Bubbles!!! Actually looks a bit vicious Diskun would be a bit of a no-hoper... as he doesn't even have any real games to draw from... but Sheriff could work. I'm reworking the Nintendo Series section at the moment to include all first-party and co-owned ("second party") franchises, regardless of how many games have been released for them. That will help SSB3 lists.
