Fryguy - I agree, Luigi needs his thunder ablities from Superstar Saga. But the vacuum has become his trademark in a way, he needs it. I also don't really think Red would work very well...>_>

While I would love for SSB to just have the heroes of all Nintendo's games, most people wouldn't. They have to add some from the more popular series to make people buy it. On my list of characters I want it's about 50% characters from Nintendo's main series, and the other half is the stars from the rest of the games. I think this would work nicely. Regular Joe Gamer would get some of his favorites, and us Big Nintendo Fans would get what we want. (The following list is to much for the next SSB, it's just what I want to see in the future)

I'd say my list was fairly balanced, while your contains far too many names, and no explanation of why they should be included. Everyone in my list is someone I can imagine fighting, with certain attacks and styles.
Yours also contains too many secondary characters. The arguments for including secondary characters are usually to appease big fans of that series... Unfortunately, big fans are a minority group, and your list seems to stand completely at odds with what you say about 50% of characters from popular franchises need to be included to make "most people" buy the game. All of the elements are in place to make people buy the game already - Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Samus - everyone else is a bit of a moot point. Who buys SSBM because Kirby is in it? Exactly...
It's true that I don't know anyone who bought the game on the strength of Roy, Ice Climbers, etc... but look at those games now. Fire Emblem has taken off worldwide, Ice Climbers are being revived more often than Dracula, and so on.
I'm not just trying to criticize your list - I'd like to see you edit it. I'd like you to think about whether one character is too similar to another, whether one character just doesn't have the moves and whether that could be rectified, and delete accordingly. I'd like to see you make suggestions for each of your characters. It's all very well just making lists, but if you don't think about them then they really are quite pointless. I could've just made a list as well - I could have copied and pasted my "Hero List", but I didn't. I don't want to make your mind up for you, I just want to see a little thought go into your long long list.

Fryguy's list is pretty cool, but I think there should be secondary and evil characters as well... but not to the extreme cases like TtF's list.
Ever since the greatest Mario-Karter ever, Koopa, was removed from Mario Kart 64, I've always felt that every single character in a game should be in the sequel. Though clones aren't necessary, I want all the original characters in.

Meh... I wanted Koopa Troopa to make a triumphant return, but his resurgance in Double Dash ended up getting sidelined for my new favourite karter - Baby Mario and Luigi  I really didn't like them appearing in all these spinoffs at first, but it's going to be hard to dislike them after M&L2! Concerning Fryguy's list, I don't agree that Diddy Kong shouldn't be taken out. He has tons of attacks and would be a great addition to the SSB series. Same goes for Metaknight. You've seen him fight in Kirby Superstar and Nightmare in dreamland. And Luigi, I think that his vacuum should be an item rather than an actual attack. I agree with everything else.

My problem with Diddy and Meta-Knight wasn't that they couldn't attack... but that the reasons for including them are a bit pointless.
I just don't think they'd be interesting to play as at all, and would rather see a wider variety of characters than a small set hand-picked from Nintendo's most popular franchises - even though most people won't know who they are anyway. They would be only be there to appease fans of that series.
But I guess it's becoming inevitable they'll both be in it... what with them both being playable a lot more frequently these days.

What if someone is thinking of buying SSBR, but finds out that their favorite character has been taken out and replaced with a bunch of characters they've never heard of? They might just decide to keep playing SSBM instead.(Since they can play it on their Revolution anyway.) Being able to play online would probably be enough to make most people still buy it, but there would be some that aren't interested in online. Taking out Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Y. Link wouldn't be as bad. Because Mario, Pikachu, and Link are already in the game. Oh, and here's my small list of characters I want. Hello, I have been lurking around since the day that the gator powered board didn’t let me register, but since now I am inside, I would like to present my list in the form of a drawing (I made this list a little time after SSBM was released but before Rare was bought by Microsoft, latter I made a ´´Patch´´ that replaces all the Rare characters as well as the second Samus, but I don’t have that picture here at my office so this will have to do, for the moment) If someone can identify all those Nintendo characters those are you guys (even though my style might make it harder) I will post the reason of why this characters after a few of them have been recognized (or when I have time to do it, whatever happens first) P.D.
