So what do James McCloud (F-ZERO series), Mr. EAD and F-ZERO X's Rainbow Road have in common? They are all references to Shigeru Miyamoto's works other than the F-ZERO series. James McCloud of the F-ZERO series was inspired by James McCloud of the Star Fox series, Mr. EAD was named after Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development (Nintendo EAD) and his stars and face are references to the Super Mario series. And F-ZERO X's Rainbow Road is based on Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road. Did Miyamoto do anything to the StarTropics series? Absolutely negative. Are there any other non-Shigeru Miyamoto references in the F-ZERO series? I don't see any. So this means that the names of Zoda (F-ZERO series) and Zoda (StarTropics series) are just coincidences, like these many Michael Jones.

^ I believe I noted that in my post. Let me check...
"On the other hand, the two characters share no consistent physical similarities, the games were made by a Japan-centric company that rarely references American-only releases, and were made by different development teams."
Yep, there it is. Still, it's not like Nintendo's developer's have never referenced each other's work before. Plus, I noticed that Wikipedia doesn't have a disambiguation page for "Zoda." Hmm, I wonder why...
But let's not belabor the point, parrothead. I'm just having fun razzing Fry. ;D

Fry can do whatever he wants with his own site. He at least mentions it as not a cameo on the F-Zero GX page, and that's good enough for me. At least it somewhat acknowledges the difference in perspectives. F-Zero GX contained so many potential cameos that I kept being emailed about that I had to debunk or at least acknowledge them. The "Chao" ship as a Sega reference was one. After all... blue drip heads? Could have been! But alas nay. Strategic pausing bummed that one. The only other one I'm still undecided on really in John Tanaka. His profile theme is very arcadey, which made me wonder if he was supposed to be a reference to Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka, who did a lot of Nintendo's arcade and 8-bit tunes. While this one interests me infinitely more than Zoda, I still haven't added it as a cameo, just because I can't prove it. Also, he was in FZX as well, and I don't think there was any suggestion in that game he was based on anyone. BTW, Fry, the F-Zero GX page doesn't mention that they have more in common than just the names. They're still both evil world-conquering aliens, after all. Might want to fix that error. I'd say that's more of an omission, myself. Now stop it, or I'll FALCON PAAAWNCH yous all

As a note of interest, "anchor" stays consistent with Nester's Mayflower theory. I know it's not much, but it's interesting.

Heh. It was barely a theory, and my tongue was in cheek when I posted it. I still thought it was pretty interesting, tho.
BTW, Fry, let's not forget that Zoda in both StarTropics games was a shape shifter, so the argument that Zoda in F-Zero looks nothing like him is completely irrelevant! (Plus, his age is listed as "unknown.")
Doh, all right! No more of this nonsense! It got ridiculous some time age. ;D
