Secondly, the prediction of more Mother 3 stuff in Brawl is not far-fetched at all. And sadly, with a plot-laden game like Mother 3, spoilers kind of come with that territory. Even if it's just the guys at Starmen.net guessing, I'd say it's a pretty good guess. Yeah, its not far-fetched ( ), which is why I find it hard to believe this guy knows any more than you or I.

Yes, THAT isn't Farfetch'd. But the fact that he predicted today having a Mother 3 update is. Plus, these guys have been crazy with Mother support for, what, over a decade now? I don't find it hard to believe that these guys would have sources by now that know Mother-related stuff that this. I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but I'm certainly not gonna dismiss it as false. At least, not yet. I know when something smells like a hoax, but this guy has always been trustworthy in the Mother community up to this point. I don't see why he'd lie now.

Did they ever say 'today' would be the Mother update, or merely 'this week'? Because 'this week' seems to me like it's not exactly a difficult call to make - Mother stuff had to be coming sooner or later, and the fact that members on neogaf and the like were backtracking and editing their posts about it makes me get a real lucky guess vibe.
I'm not saying he's making it up, as I don't know, but I just can't see how he would have an inside source. We'll see.

My hope has been brought up again. now I hope to see all the original 12 return!
...Still, Ness has a risk of being replaced. Hmm.

The Franklin Badge is a staple in the MOTHER franchise, but anybody who played MOTHER 3 will remember that item fondly for triggering one of the most moving scenes in teh whole videogame industry.
It's a good friday.

I've never seen this item before as I have never played an Earthbound game. My bad? When it says deflects projectiles, does that mean they are returned to sender or nullified? Thats gonna be hard to see on the battlefield but I suspect very useful. Not that anything replaces the awesome Fox reflector

I've never seen this item before as I have never played an Earthbound game. My bad? Yes, your bad! You'd better catch up, sharpish! When it says deflects projectiles, does that mean they are returned to sender or nullified? They are bounced, same way as Fox's Reflector move, judging by the screen of Zero Suit Samus being hit by her own laser. Sounds like the item hangs around for a long time as well, kinda like the SSBM Bunny Hood, perhaps? That lasted longer than most hold items.

Good choice of an item.
Hmm, I agree that the "Mother" thing is rather mysterious. They could make versions of the items for each language if they wanted to.

This item can be annoying. You can't just watch a battle and shoot them remotely if they have this on.
By the way, I never thought the kana ヂ exists! well, it is in the ta (タ) row, so that makes sense. But how to pronounce it? ji? di? But there're already ジ and ディ for them...
EDIT: Ji, I suppose. Because the alternative spelling of "badge" is バッジ, right?

Did the badge have North America in the backround in MOTHER?
Anyways, Lucas was a planned character in Melee, but was replaced in the last second by Ness. I'm guessing they will put both characters in Brawl. I mean seriously, why can't they have at least two characters from each series?

Because the alternative spelling of "badge" is バッジ, right? There's a few things like that. The Katakana for "U" can also be written so it says "Vu" rather than opting for "Bu" like usual. But yes, I believe it's pronounced Ji.

This is a neat item. XD I hope they do something to make it substantially different from Fox and Falco's Reflector, though...
Also, I'll be upset if they put two Earthbound characters in while Samurai Goroh was relegated to Assist Trophy status. =(

First, I am a bit sad that there wasn't a character. I love character updates.
But, this item makes up for it. I must say, it was a good week despite what people say. Kid Icarus Music, Ike's specials, Mother item, and Pit's Final Smash. Me likey.
For those who don't know, the Franklin Badge made you resistant to electricity in Earthbound. I beleive you needed it for a battle.

Lucas was planned for Melee, but since EB64 was scrapped they went with Ness. Sakurai really wanted to see Mother 3 happen, so it's no surprise to anybody that Brawl should have Mother 3 stuff (which it definitely will). That doesn't take any insider info to predict. But what confuses me is what they meant by the "lol we can't reveal this bit." Seems like a lot of these hardcore fansites get info well before anyone else and just hold it in for some sort of assumed "we need to protect them from themselves" attitude (www.serebii.net, anyone? that guy bugs me so much). Not saying that it's not a bad idea in this case, because if this is what I'm thinking, then that's a pretty damn huge spoiler to any potential fans of the games. Then again, logically speaking, revealing Samus as a woman or Zelda as Sheik weren't exactly protected spoilers. It comes with the territory. Hell, we already know one of the most surprising unlockable characters (Snake). Wouldn't surprise me if we saw Sonic being talked about even a month or two before the release. It's just the way the whole hype machine works. Just like Marth and Roy, Mother 3 stuff, despite being spoilerific, would really impress the hell out of Westerns and push Nintendo to translate. And, damnit, that's worth being spoiled! I expect it to appear within a week or two on the website, definitely

I already spoiled Mother 3 for myself. I thought I was never going to play it, yet here is a Mother 3 translation. I'll still play it. i only know the ending.
Of course, I can expect Starman.net to have insiders. They have a monster of a site and community. Some howw, I wouldn't doubt the have a mole. Serebii, not so much.
