After seeing Petey in yesterday's update I don't think Ridley's inclusion is as "guaranteed" as we'd like it to be. I'm sure he'll play a key role in the game somehow--of that I have absolutely no doubt. But now that we know there'll be boss characters from other Nintendo games also potentially acting as bosses for Brawl, it suddenly makes more sense that Ridley would be such a Boss character, rather than playable (even though I would LOVE for him to be playable, I really would). Quoted for truth, unfortunately.

Quoted for truth, unfortunately. Assuming Petey himself isn't playable also. I doubt he is, but its not outside the realms of possibility. If he is, it could potentially mean bigger, scarier, probably stronger bosses versions of characters that become smaller and weaker and more playable when unlocked - that could work for the Riddler - he could have full flight as a boss character, but get the dodgy little jumps and other necessary balances when he's playable. Wishful thinking, but whatever.

I think Ridley is still possible. Petey is pretty much just boss matterial. Ridley is like Bowser and Ganondorf in that he's a villan, but cal also be a playable character. Looking at how he was on the poll, I'd say he's got a good shot.

Looking at how he was on the poll, I'd say he's got a good shot. If they add a villain for each respectable series (as you said Bowser and Ganondorf) Ridley would maybe be the best choice. But isn't he pretty big? I see him as a Petey type boss, and another bounty hunter (such as one from MPH) to be a character.

Please don't let the actual Metroid Prime series be overlooked for Hunters. Please.
Dark Samus is the obvious non-Ridley candidate, me thinks. There are other ways they could go, though, too (Omega Pirate just popped into my head for some reason - now he would make a cool boss character, or even maybe playable maybe kind of sort of possibly nah... maybe)

Each bounty hunter in Hunters had specific attacks and features that only they could do. If you want a character from Metroid with variety, Hunters is the way to go. And Dark Samus? Don't we have enough alternate versions of Samus?

I agree with tveye, but at the same time, Dark Samus has been a bigger part of the series.

Hunters is absolutely the ugly red-headed step child of Metroid, though. I will be a sad panda if it gets more representation than the real Prime games.

Storyline aside, Hunters was a great portable game to play whenever/wherever you were. Looking at the few FPS games on the DS (all of which sucked) Hunters was one of the few that stuck to its roots and was a kickass game.

It wasn't. You want a Metroid first person game, play Metroid Prime. You want a portable Metroid, Zero Mission it up. You want a great DS game, Mario Kart DS is your best friend.
Bah to Hunters.

Hunter was usually seen as average. While it's praised for great multiplayer, it doesn't match the Prime series. Prime gave us what we expected in metroid. Hunters didn't, but had other good stuff.

I'm sorry, but while the Hunters are nice, having the five most popular "villians" as playable would probably fulfill Brawl's objective of having more villians, and those are Bowser, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Dedede, and Ridley. These five villians are End Boss material in Nintendo's eyes, and highly requested as fighters. (Yes, Ridley was a Final Boss of a Metroid game)

You missed a spot: (metroid spoiler ahead) Metroid: Zero Mission- Mecha Ridley I don't think that really counts as Ridley being a final boss, but I'm sure that's what sam was referring to.

I wouldn't mind a little bit of Hunters content, but I'd primarily like the focus to stay on traditional Metroid stuff. I don't care much for Hunters simply because I had an obscenely difficult time controlling the damn game, but I don't outright hate it.
