Yep, as you would have noticed, he sure does take them all by surprise with his updates on the game. Here goes: Almost everyone thought there would be no 3rd party characters in Smash...  SURPRISE! Sakurai, 1. Dumb fanboys, 0. Everyone also thought the GC controller would be the only one to be used...  WHA-PING! Sakurai, 3 (+2). Dumb fanboys, 0. The Wario Waft was thought to be his Final Smash, but...  IT'S HIS DOWN SPECIAL! Sakurai, 4. Dumb fanboys, 0. It was also thought that a special event with a movie would be required to show even more characters...  Sakurai 5...  Er...Sakurai, 6...  Scratch that, also. Sakurai, 7. Dumb fanboys, 0. Samurai Goroh and Deoxys were thought to be playable, but...   ASSIST TROPHY AND POKE BALL! Sakurai, 9 (+2). Dumb fanboys, 0. People think that the character roster determines everything in the whole game, but guess what?!  SHWING! No playable Animal Crossing characters, but there IS a stage! Sakurai, 10. Dumb fanboys, 0. Diamond City for Wario's stage?!  I THINK NOT! Sakurai, 11. Dumb fanboys, 0. It was also thought that there would be no newcomers for a while...  BAM! Sakurai, 12.  POW! Lots of people thought there would be no Pokemon Trainers in the game, but here he is, with a better setup than before! Sakurai 14...(+2)  And at last, Diddy Kong! Sakurai, 15. Dumb fanboys, 0. What of Adventure Mode?! The same dreary tripe as it was in Melee?!?  Nonono! DUN DUN DUN! A much better one! Sakurai, 17 (+2). Dumb fanboys, 0. People doubted the Ice Climbers, but...  Sakurai, 18. Dumb fanboys, 0. And those are Sakurai's owning of the fanboys by far. Who knows what will happen next?! Find out next week! This post will be edited until further notice. |

SHWING! No playable Animal Crossing characters, but there IS a stage! Say... weren't you the one who told me in an MSN Messenger conversation that just because something hasn't gotten an update yet, it doesn't mean it won't appear in the game? :) |

Then Sakurai came out with Pokemon Trainer.

Here goes: You're also forgetting that a lot of people on this forum thought along the same line as your "dumb fanboys," and a lot of what we said was based at least on educated guessing. To be honest I'm kind of offended by this list. Granted, there are a lot of brainless morons out there who put their dicks in the pudding, so to speak, but it seems more like you're just targetting everyone who had something to say that went against what actually happened. And I really did think Gohogroghrhgooohrf had a chance at being playable, since he is the second most important F-Zero character in the franchise. So, in short, Sakurai may have all that up over the "dumb fanboys," but pointing all this out to begin with makes you look like an ass. |

I'm sure Sakurai wasn't attempting to "own" fan boys...hell, he's catering to us quite well. I have to agree with TEi on this one...I don't see a point to post this in a forum where people were making said guesses outside of trying ot start a flame war.

This is plain stupid. everyone knows logic does'nt apply much to videogames. The LoZ games have a screwed timeline that no one can exactly make out, for example. And the 'dumb fanboys' are just children under the age of 13, making stupid, uneducated guesses, or just saying things they want to happen will ACTUALLY HAPPEN! On that note, TEi was right about some of the fanboy guesses were our guesses, and were quite educated on the most part.
Does that clear things up enough?

The problem is that there is almost no liner way to explain how educated or not the guesses are dumb or smart. Was there really a way to make an educated guess that Dr. Wright was going to be in? |

Well, I DID say videogames tend to work outside of logic And about the fanboys, I was kind of exaddurating, I was trying to get the 'uneducated' part of it across better. |

Hmmm... You know, actually, people were saying Animal Crossing doesn't fit in the Smash Bros. atmosphere because it is a peaceful and nonviolent game.... Yet Sakurai made an Animal Crossing stage and arranged the music.
Even Sakurai admitted that the music doesn't fit the fighting game so he made the music fit into the game. So who's to say he won't do the same for an Animal Crossing character?

This is unnecessarily rude. Sakurai has thrown curveballs - he's surprised us frequently - he's made things work that we never thought could.
Why does that make everyone "dumb fanboys"? Surely it just makes Sakurai a master of his art!
I also fail to see the point of this post. We can all make guesses. If anyone else were in charge, it would be a different game. You're basically pointing out how many rumours have been mistaken (with hindsight, I may add). That's nothing to do with being dumb. Hell, I guessed a proper 1-Player adventure, boss battles and have been wishing for both Pit and Wario since 2001... but I also failed to see how Pokemon Trainer could work. Does that make me a dumb fanboy?
Or does it make you a pompous poster?

Looking at it again, what part of those makes someone dumb.
We expected trhe GCN controller to be the only one. He said the game would use it and not use motion sensativity
And Gohor and Deoxys. I tought the lagtter was a bit much but you can't blame someone for having wants
Who seggested Diamond City
Beyond the Ice Climber things, none of those are dumb.

I find it funny how you're assuming that the Animal Crossing stage is evidence for a stage without a character. Just because one hasn't been announced doesn't mean there won't be one. If Sakurai reveals an AC character... does that mean he owned you, too?
