People think that the character roster determines everything in the whole game, but guess what?!
SHWING! No playable Animal Crossing characters, but there IS a stage! Sakurai, 10. Dumb fanboys, 0.
Oh this is sad...
THEY CAN REMOVE HIM!
The background is randomly generated...
Tom Nook will be playable... Every Franchise has a playable character...

Hmmm... You know, actually, people were saying Animal Crossing doesn't fit in the Smash Bros. atmosphere because it is a peaceful and nonviolent game.... Yet Sakurai made an Animal Crossing stage and arranged the music. Even Sakurai admitted that the music doesn't fit the fighting game so he made the music fit into the game. So who's to say he won't do the same for an Animal Crossing character? I hate to double post but... Arcadenik is totally right... Sakurai is capable of anything with his position(sp?) The mistake we made was predicting things...

The mistake we made was predicting things... Exactly. Even Zelda and Peach weren't really fit to fight in a Smash game but Sakurai made them work. Not only that he also made some characters who never fought in their original games work in a Smash game like Fox, Falco, Captain Falcon, and Sheik. And even if a character only had one attack in the original game (Ice Climbers), he can come up with a whole moveset for them. So I don't see how Sakurai is unable to do that for Tom Nook or any Animal Crossing character or Duck Hunt Dog (my dream character )

I think by Sakurai's mindset, he wont see Nook as a fighter. Of course, flip has been saying the AC boy/girl could be playable. By Sakurai's mindset, that may work.
I, personaly, doubt am AC character, but we'll see.

Yea Sakurai CAN make a moveset for almost anything. Many characters prove this such as Captain Falcon, Fox, Zelda, etc. I've also heard if the character is not playable in their franchise then they can't make it. The argument is pretty stupid since Ganondorf is never playable. My dream characters are Mach Rider, Pauline, Alice, Bomberman, and Eirika unfortunatly I don't think any are possible.

Why do people always assume Tom Nook would have to be the playable AC character? Mr. Resetti is the clear choice. He's a violent, pickaxe-wielding mole with high blood pressure and an anger management problem.
And of course, you'd unlock him by hitting reset during a match.

I really hate this arguemnt. C. Falxcon and Fox both got their moves from comics from the series (C. Falcon's was in ther SNES manual). Also, Fox has a blaster in his character desin, and the reflector is probobly based on the barrle roll. Not only that, but how they fight is from their repective game. C. Falcon relies on speed . Plus, they have fighting potential. So what does Nook have?

Factor in the fact the residents use tools such as axes, shovels, fishing poles, and nets and he could employ these tools to fight. He could use the slingshot (AC:WW) for his standard special. He could use the net (side special) to catch projectiles and release them back as bees with the equal amount of damage the projectile would have. He could transform into a Gyroid statue (down special) like how Tanooki Mario transforms into a statue because he is a tanuki. He could either use the umbrella (up special) like Peach (don't complain about how his up special is similar to Peach's; Ike's up special is similar to Kirby's). And he could grab opponents or tether recover by using his fishing pole.

But it's just like Lip. Sure, you COULD make a moveset, but then not only are you stretching it (Tanokii stuff not in AC) but you make a lesser character. Given, it'd be more importaint to get a representative then to add a brand new character (for what ever reason) but you know what I mean.
I will say this. Sakurai has surprised us before, and he had added the symbols before the character. I don't bet on it, but we'll see.

Tom Nook using Tanuki moves is baseless conjecture. It has nothing to do with the character. Not to mention Nook has no fighting potential, period, nor do the human characters from AC. Fox, Falco and Captain Falcon may have had their movesets made up, but they come from environments where they're expected to be prepared to fight. It's a completely different thing.

Well then, why is Zelda on the battlefield? Granted, she comes from an action game, she still had no attacks in the games.

Oh thats right, Tom Nook, guy thats into forcing people into labour, paying ridiculously small wages for workers such as fruit pickers, and is quite clearly tied into the mafia, can't fight.
Tom Nook, or whatever the animal crossing character is, should fight with attacks that have random effects - since randomness is a staple of the AC franchise, just like fast stuff in F-Zero and shooting crap in Star Fox.
