In Two of this weeks updates we've seen the use of Dialog Boxes. What possibilities does this lead to? Text Dialog in Brawl SSE perhaps. What other Characters could use them. Am I jumping to conclusions?
Discuss.

Yes, you are jumping to conclusions.
Every Subspace Emissary cutscene we've seen so far has had an absence of text speech AND voice acting. I don't see why anyone thinks either is likely.

Reminder We've only had 3 videos done, and we've yet to see videos of In game play of SSE as well.

The text boxes we've seen are there only for comedic effect. That's the only reason they work. Trying to use them seriously would be ultimate fail.

Maybe something from Nintendo's text adventure games?
An Assist Trophy character that might use text is Dr. Lobe from Big Brain Academy.

I see more assist trophies using text boxes.
Zelda games are known for their prominent use of text. Tingle as assist perhaps? KOOLOO LIMPAH!

The whole consept about dialog boxes is just stupid. It would kinda wreck the game. You will be trying to read whilst battling(or you could ignore them.). The pokemon trainer was only small, and the Mr Resetti thing was for a kind of distraction. But I hate games that have too much dialog boxes. Including Paper Mario. I don't hate Paper Mario, but too much reading gets on my nerves. So I say, no dialog boxes. Even for Assist Trophies.

Why do people complain about having to read in games? I mean, I can understand it being annoying trying to read while action's going on, but in Paper Mario? I can only assume these are the people who complain about books that don't have a large picture on every page.

Actually, I do like reading books with a lot of writing on their pages, it's just that in Paper Mario I'm so excited that I'm up to the next level or about to something fun, and I have got to read what somebody has got to say!

What about Smash Bros Melee? Didnt that use text boxes in Adventure Mode in Corneria. Then again, there was voice acting in that.
Although the only text im looking forward to reading is on the online play/assist trophies ;D

They used the same dialog boxes from Star Fox 64, which had voice acting and fast moving mouths. SSB seems to try and retain what is from the respected game they are trying to represent. Such as with Ressetti and Pokemon Trainer's final smash.

I'd point out in a few of the screenshots we've seen Snake has CODEX scenes in what HAD to be Subspace Emissary...
I'm guessing that if we ACTUALLY need dialog, the Dialog would fit the world...
Mr. Resetti uses Dialog boxes akin to Animal Crossing, complete with the jibberish like sounds... Pokemon Characters use dialog boxes akin to the Pokemon games and don't speak. Members of Starfox speak clear English and use dialog boxes akin to the Starfox games. Snake also speaks clear English and occasionally uses the CODEX, his own version of a dialog box. If Zelda has to say something, she'll use a few sounds and a dialog box akin to Twilight Princess... If Peach & Bowser have to say something, they will probably speak it with and use an English subtitle akin to Super Mario Sunshine. etc, etc, etc.
It's a very clever use of dialog boxes to have them fit with the world the character is from.

Was there any indication that those CODEC scenes were from the Subspace Emissary? It seems to me they could just as easily be part of a "How to Play" tutorial.
