Considering how we currently know more about Snake than most of the other Newcomers, I think it's safe to say that Sakurai changed his mind and 3rd party characters will be Starters. It makes a lot more sense from a marketing standpoint.

The delay should be good. We'll see a better game.
True to me who probably won't buy even a Wii until months or years later. Love the A-Level exam.

Guess I won't be failing my finals.
But man, I'm upset, but in a way, I'm ecstatic. This could only mean he wants the game to be even better. More characters. More stages. More Balance. More Emissary. More everything.
I wonder if this delay was inevitable. I mean, he's cramming so much stuff into this game. They may have realized that Dec. 3rd just wasn't going to happen. Just please don't keep us waiting again. I'm hoping E for All will reveal the new date.

You can't really make major edits like characters this late in the day. The game IS finished. It's being translated, going through the months of rating checks, checked for final bugs, and so on. I have no doubt the only reason for the US delay is to ensure a worldwide release. After all... it's Nintendo's BIG game. Just a shame they couldn't get it out before Christmas.
But it also means you bastards can't spoil it for us PAL-Regioners! Hahaha! Suck my Wii!

But, hey, a man can dream. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two got cut if it was released early (they may still be adding the finsihing touches to some of them). But if we get it later, you probably also get it later as well

Delays are good things, guys. The awesomeness of a game is directly proportional to the amount of delay. It's science! Galleon and Daikatana. Enough said. Anyway, I don't mind the delay too much. If Nintendo needs more time to make the game right, they've got to take that time.

Delays are good things, guys. The awesomeness of a game is directly proportional to the amount of delay. It's science! Even if this is not 100% true (see Twilight Princess, that game was delayed for several for several other reasons) I agree with Kirbychu, I bet this is a good delay, It will get us a better game. I'm pretty sure that's exactly the idea - the delay non-announcement has probably been coming for a while, it just needed something huge to drown it out. Enter Sonic. Now I agree 100% with this, It just makes sense, also there is a bunch of good things that come from this delay: 1) It Wont compete with sales with Super Mario Galaxy this Christmas, Nintendo didn´t need 2 games of that caliber for the holidays (Smash, just like Zelda will sell now Mather when its released) 2) It gives more time to the guys at Starmen.net to finish their translation of Mother 3 (or even lets Nintnedo, chances to release the game in the virtual console before Smash) 3)In the end gives us a better Smash (no clones, no wave dash, etc, etc) and if this helps then to get a worldwide release , then I am all for it.

It also will help for many people to know the games before potential spoilers happen. Maybe Galaxy is another example of a recent game.
Regarding Pokémon, this could mean Darkrai and even Shaymin making an appearance in Brawl.
Overall, this is good news, unless we pass away. But I need to know the American release date so that I can re-schedule my vacations at work!!

Did any of you notice the irony that a character known for speed is announced on the same day as a delay? Heh, heh. But aside from that, it's going to be a great holiday season. According to a report from Screen Digest, there are as many games coming out for the Wii as there are for the 360 and PS3 combined (at least for the US). I'm sure you guys are still excited about Mario Galaxy, but third party support is pretty impressive. Mario & Sonic at the Olympics was just announced to have Mii support and "Dream Events," which makes it sound essentially like "Wii Sports 2." There there high profile titles like Soul Calibur: Legends, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Nights: Journey of Dreams, Trauma Center: New Blood, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary -- Wii Edition. You may not have the confidence in third party games that you do in Nintendo's, but at least keep an open mind. My point being that...well, it just seemed like a good time to do some third party promotion. Keep an eye on the 3PS this season!

Hahaha.. wizzle sounds like a funny word and I don't even know what it means. Anyway, I guess delay will be good for the game... maybe there will be 50 characters in Brawl.. we already know 22 playable characters and the game won't come out till the end of January in Japan! Now that I think about it.. maybe the reason why Brawl was delayed is because Nintendo and Sega didn't want Brawl to outsell Mario & Sonic Olympics so they gave us an appetizer for the fabled Mario vs. Sonic match before Brawl.

I think the reason for the delay was to avoid what happen in Melee. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to go the clone route again if the game was released on the 3rd. I sespect it's to give the game it's full completion. To make sure everything is done.
