Right, I want to clarify some of the new claims coming from last week's video and play reports ready for the site update.
What I would like is a source for each of the below Assists and Poke Ball Pokemon where I do not have one, or where I may have missed a video. A video source is preferable to a written one, as these people DO make mistakes (and we don't - because we are awesome).
Assist: Metroid Attaches itself to a player and leeches their health. (IGN write-up - not seen in video yet)
Advance Wars A group of sprites (SNES/GBA) of the Orange Star army (tanks and soldiers) march across the stage, shooting. (Confirmed in videos)
Jill & Drill Dozer Jill drills into an opponent using the Drill Dozer. (Write-up - not seen in video yet)
Little Mac Runs around punching other fighters. (1up write-up - not seen in video yet. I do believe this IS Knuckle Joe, and someone messed up - starting a rabid fanboy revolt).
Sin and Punishment Character Shoots and slashes the nearest character. (No idea - this forum is the only place I have seen this mentioned).
Gardevoir Walks around with a blue bubbles surrounding it. The bubble protects the player from attacks. (Confirmed in video)
Latias / Latios Both swoop down, hurting opponents caught between them. (Again, I've only seen this one mentioned on this forum)
As for the F-Zero "fat guy" - I am certain they mean Samurai Goroh. Thus undermining my opinion of the people who actually went to play Smash, while those of us who know what we're talking about got stuck reading about it.

Ah yes, there's Jill! What a delightfully low-resolution video

Yeah, Jill was in a video. Mac I still buy as an Assist; they're guys who played the game as kids, so I don't deny their ability to recognized the protagonist of Punch Out. Though, if you think about it, Joe is kinda close *shrug* EDIT: www.destructoid.com/hands-on-with-super-smash-bros-brawl-48983.phtmlDestructoid apparently calls Special attacks Smash attacks, and they couldn't recognize the all too obvious Star Fox Smart Bomb. I don't like them as a source anymore...

Kyogre has been shown using Hydro Pump in the Nintendo Conference video as well as Torchic. Snorlax is also confirmed with his trademark body slam.. Destructoid apparently calls Special attacks Smash attacks, and they couldn't recognize the all too obvious Star Fox Smart Bomb. I don't like them as a source anymore... They pissed me off when they remarked the "smash balls" looked like XBOX 360 symbols. Shouldn't it be the other way around though, since that's been the Smash symbol since 1998 (or whenever the first Smash game came out).

I thought I heard, at the risk of unleashing fury, that Little Mac was a sprite, therefore making it extremely difficult to confuse with Joe. I'm not sure where that came from originally, but I've seen it said in a couple of forums.
Honestly a sprite, so that he could stand in front of the character and punch ala Punch-Out, makes sense to me.

Hm. Sounds like Destructoid needs to do a bit more Ninty research. And it is a bit brazen to refer to the Smash Bros. icon as a XB360 symbol...it isn't really that comparable (only if you tilt the Smash Ball a certain way) and Smash Bros. has been around a lot longer than the 360 logo (as TV Eye noted). Anywho, with E for All on the horizon, more concrete details will become known, I'm sure.

I'd laugh in disappointment if Little Mac was made of sprites. That's too different from midget excitebikers that were always made of very few pixels, and Fry has sort of convinced me that it's because of the amount of simultaneous objects in the screen.
And I don't completely get how does the summoning of both Latios and Latias work. As for why I'm sure the guy was talking about them, I think he meant "metallic" as in the roughness of their shapes and not the texture or shades of their models.

Well Latios and Latias are made to look like jets...I wouldn't be surprised to see that they are a bit metallic looking.

Latios and Latias are supposed to have down like glass; it's sleek and shiny so they are very streamlined. They should look metallic.
And Mac as a sprite would definitely work and be kinda cool, but daaayyaaaamnnnnn... Why?! He had so much potential...

Little Mac AT is the only AT that really disappointed me.
On the other hand, Lyn and Samurai Goroh as ATs cheered me up because they were so overrated. Same with Deoxys and Gardevoir in Pokeballs.

As far as Little Mac is concerned, "I'll see it when I believe it."
Or...
well you know what I'm sayin.

I think that Fat Guy is MR E.A.D. You know that guy from F-Zero with the Starman on his belt.

"Fat guy from F-Zero" equals Samurai Goroh. Until somebody offers some better description, I am not adding Mr. EAD as an assist.
The whole Little Mac things becomes more cryptic by the day. I really hope he's not a sprite... That would seriously get on my titties.
I didn't add anything to that list above that was confirmed in the Nintendo conference video as that was released on the official site and it was easy to see who was in or not.
The only other thing I didn't add was items from past Smash games. Although it's beginning to look like they all appear... I mean, if Mr. Saturn and Lip's Stick are returning (which they are) it's a fair bet that the rest of them are as well.

Except probably the motion sensor bomb seeing as it's the proximity mine used in Goldeneye (which was made by the now-Microsoft-owned Rare). Which kind of sucks, since I liked that items inclusion.
