I believe that most people think the NES Punch-Out!! titles are the only Punch-Out!! titles in existence.
I wish Nintendo would put the arcade versions to the Virtual Console (or better yet, the Nintendo DS) along with the SNES Super Punch-Out!!.
I also wish that there would be a Punch-Out!! title for either Nintendo DS or Nintendo Wii, that would include online multi-player and every veteran boxer (including the nameable ones) from the previous Punch-Out!! titles, along with some new ones.

Pretty awesome that it's green pants Little Mac. Also like that he's actually a little midget.

Well, the NES boxer was the only one that was named. The SNES and arcade ones are different boxers - sometimes they fight the same rivals, and they're all after the WVBA title, but there are three separate boxers. Who knows why EA put "Mac" on the shorts of the SNES boxer when they made him 3D. Maybe NoA said to, or maybe they genuinely believed Super Punch-Out!! was a remake or something... This update makes me happy - I was always sceptical that he would make a fully-fledged fighter, and after the Punch-Out!! series didn't even get a mention in Melee, something told me he might simply not appear at all once more. But here he is - rendered in glorious 3D for the first time (don't argue!!) He's never looked better, he's a shortarse, and he's BACK! ;D

*yawn*
Sorry guys but I was never a Punch-Out fan. This update is nostalgic...but it just doesn't excite me...oh well.
Though I'm not saying I hate it...

Funnily enough, its not nostalgic at all for me, as the first time I played Punch Out was through the VC... a month ago. But even in this short time I've fallen in love with him, so its good to see him in (of course if I was a tool I would whine that he isn't playable, but at least he's in - and an assist trophy to boot)

I wish that Mac was playable, but I'll take what I can get. Time to start training for a come back!

Mac looks great and realistic, using real boxing dashes and moves. Glad it's the legendary boxing midget and not the ugly SNES one.
He was one of my favourite candidates. I want more retro characters, so the last two remaining are Balloon Fighter and Takamaru. At least one of them have to be in playable.

Well, at least he's in 3D and Smash finally gets some Punch Out love.
Mac, we hardly knew ya...

I thought of something... You know how Harry from Teleroboxer was voted in the Brawl poll? And that Virtual Boy game Teleroboxer is basically Punch-Out but with robots? So maybe what if Sakurai thought that the Virtual Boy could use some representation so he chose to make Little Mac an AT so Harry would be a newcomer? That'd be cool if we got a boxing robot in Brawl. We never had a boxer nor a robot in Brawl... So combine the two types into one and you get Harry! I doubt that's the case but it would be very cool if we got Harry the Teleroboxer.

It would be cool. But something tells me that is extremely unlikely. In fact, probably about as likely as the guy from Arm Wrestling.
The game isn't going to please everyone, because it is incapable of pleasing everyone. Following the translation of Sakurai's older Q&A sessions (lovingly provided by Flip) we can see Sukapon is looking ever more unlikely. In fact, it sounds like he tried to make a playable Sukapon before and something didn't work, and he's pretty much said don't expect him in future instalments.
So that's one of my most-wanted pretty much guaranteed not to appear. If he's an assist, or even just a regular trophy, I'm not gonna complain about it. If he's not mentioned AT ALL, then I might grumble.
That's the problem with some of you here - in your minds, Sakurai is designing YOUR dream Smash Bros. Well he isn't. He's designing a Smash Bros. that will sell loads, AND he's designing a Smash Bros. that works. There's no doubt a good reason Mac and Goroh weren't playable, but rather than appreciate that they have an interesting role anyway, you moan, like Sakurai has a personal vendetta against you.
It's not YOUR game. It's Sakurai's game. And it will be excellent.

Well, look like we have confirmation that he is an AT and he is not the Blond one. I wonder why they used the older version instead of the newer version from Super Punch-Out. Well . . . Flip (and most likely others) are not going to be happy with this. Old version sold 3million. SNES version didn't even break 1million I would have rather had him playable, but I'll live. Maybe next time Little Mac Arcadenik:You know we have known this for a week, we just didn;t have a confirmation (due to skepticism). Which begs the question, what are your most wanted characters anyway? @fry:I agree with your later statements. AS much as I would have loved to see Little Mac be playable, and was on my top wanted, I'm not upset over this. Sucks, but he's is IN the game. Not everyone can be in. There is just not enough room. I think Sakurai will try to please everyone by giving the characters fans want the most, and maybe throwing some obscured characters too (which are also highly requested). As long as Dedede doesn't end up assist (possible, but not probably).

This sounds reasonable enough for me.
I guess you just have to accept the fact, because otherwise you have to make your own Smash Bros!
It's always a good thing to see Mac in 3D rather than 2D, or worse, sprites. (Although if you observe closely, the sprites are in 3D - they look like 2D but the game treats it as 3D objects (ala Mr G&W) rather than 2D (say, food))
