I guess its human nature to complain. But you get people who say Smash Bros is for Nintendo characters, but complain about Pokemon Trainer, or Krystal...do you just want no one new to be in? If I wanted to play as old characters, I'd go back to Melee. Okay, some excuses are valid, but who wants to play as Peppy's boring daughter, when you've got an ass-kicking fox...thing. I'm sure they can make her look more decent. They even changed Peach's dress entirely (kind of), I don't know why they can't make Krystal look more decent. Sqrt2 I was using percentages based on everyone, not just this forum. Tei the Spiffy I also hope Falco gets in, though not because I like him as a character, but because I'm expecting Smash Bros Brawl to be the most epic crossover fighting game I have ever played. And the more characters, the better.

Fry is exactly right.
I love the cast of Smash brothers for the same reasons. It's an insane crew. It's a fantastic cast for fans of videogames... but if viewed from the perpective of somebody who has no idea who anyone is.... it's like "What the hell am I playing?"
Krystal... is unoriginal and stupid. Even her name.... "Krystal"... is like a 14 year old furfreak's deviantart name. "kRyStAlFOX333"
Third party characters don't bother me. As long as they're videogame legends and have contributed alot to the VG world. Solid Snake? Hell yeah. Sonic the hedgehog? Yes sir. I know Smash Brothers was originally created with only Nintendo's main cast.... but that idea has gone stale... AND it doesn't make a difference to a gamer who doesn't care about developers and companies... and just plays videogames.
I guess I have been complaining about Krystal for a while now... but I just want to make it clear... I consider her Nintendo's worst character... and is the downfall of the Starfox series, which was fantastic before she showed up. And the fact that so many people want her in and that it might actually happen is VERY annoying. Think... Shadow the Hedgehog..... and you know what I'm talking about. A stupid character designed for stupid reasons, who just won't go away. Thank god he won't be in brawl.

LOL. Kinda like how unoriginal Fox and Falco's names are? I mean, a fox named Fox and a falcon named Falcon?

At least Krystal is not named after a female fox, Vixen.

Mega Man, Pac-Man, etc. don't have these advantages Snake and Sonic did. No one is begging Sakurai to put them in. They are not rabidly wanted like Sonic is. Hey, we didn't know the Kojima part before Snake was revealed.

At least Krystal is not named after a female fox, Vixen. No, she just acts like one I'm with NinjaRygar on this one. If Crash Bandicoot and Lara Croft got in, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but they wouldn't be as good as the classics. I mean Snake's been around since the NES/MSX days, and had one hell of a comeback. Sonic's a good character who has been spoiled a bit in recent years, but whose rock-solid foundations (and Mario rivalry) were formative moments in the videogame industry's 16-bit days. So bring on Mega Man - the defining third party NES game, and Pac-Man, the only videogame character who rivals Mario for popularity.

And the only characters I am dead against being playable in Brawl are third-party characters. SSB games are about Nintendo characters fighting each other, NOT about Nintendo and non-Nintendo characters fighting each other. To be honest... a few years ago I would have agreed with you. But I'm not such a rabid Nintendo fanboy now. I'm not that closed-minded any more. What we're getting is a couple of characters to represent Nintendo's awesome third-party supporters. This can only be a good thing. The third-party representation, from the looks of things, will make up about 1% of the game total, which is barely anything. At the same time, it multiplies the game's sales and gives us a glimpse of some of the things that go on beyond the Nintendo Fanboy walls, perhaps raising 3rd-party support for the Wii - something I know Nester would love. It can only be a good thing, in my opinion.

There are a few good reasons for Kristal to be in Brawl:
-There is no other character like her in the game (same reason why i accept Snake)
-We lack females
-And He is an important Star fox character, probably the best option for a third Star fox character (Wolf its to similar to Fox and Peppy and Slipy work better as support characters)
So Kristal its not my favorite Nintendo Character by a long shot, but for the reasons above i will accept if she is in the game.

For what it's worth, I apologize for setting off the Krystal-hate rants here and in the Expectations thread.

Here's something to think about.
Compare Smash Bros to the Gamecube. The Gamecube lacked a huuuuuuge amount of third party support. Thus, it didn't do as well as say, the Playstation 2.
Then you have the Wii, who hopes to fix that problem, and in doing so, third party characters get added to Smash Bros Brawl, which I'm betting help boost sales.
My point? A system (or game in SSBB's case) can't rely on just first parties forever. It gets tiresome and also hinders sales and progress.

It's actually part of Nintendo's plan to steal get the rights to these characters.

I expect any character with more than 2 votes on the Brawl Poll to be playable in the game. Ridley, Captain Olimar, Krystal, Takamaru, Wind Waker Young Link, and even Square-Enix owned Geno. And as soon as each are revealed, they will INSTANTLY click and be only the coolest aspects of the character instead of anything lame.

I personally have mixed feelings about Sonic, Krystal, Snake, and Lucas.
Lucas I'm pretty fine with, just that he replaces Ness. This wouldn't be a problem if Mother 3 got a Western release (and it's not coming anytime soon)
I'm not a big Sonic person, but in my opinion, the 3D Sonic was largely a mistake and has been in a slump ever since 1999. Maybe, as Kotaku once put it, the real Sonic died in 1999 and was replaced with Bubsy with hair extensions. Perhaps there will be a way to turn off Sonic's pesky voiceovers. Still, I'm not complaining Sonic is in Brawl.
Solid Snake is a strange choice, considering he was one of the first 3rd party character announced. The fact that befores me more than Solid Snake making more of a PS appearance than Nintendo, is that he's a very violent character compared to the colorful and friendly Nintendo characters. Even Samus (that is, the Power Suit Samus, not the sexy spandex-clad Samus) is more tame than Snake.
Krystal I am a bit confused with. Granted, the only reason that I appreciate Krystal is it helps (not very well, though) the annoying Fox/Falcoshippers, Krystal is an oddball after the horrible Star Fox Adventures. I agree, her tribal costume would be better (maybe an alternate?) but I won't turn into a crazed angry fanboy if she makes it in as a playable character (now if Tingle were to get in, yes, I'd get angry)
