Actually, one problem with the franchise is that it hasn't been in the hands of Nintendo for a long time. Rare, Namco and then another developer not affiliate with Nintendo. Hopefully the next one is done by EDA. As far as I remember the only Starfox developed in house was Starfox 64, the original and the unreleased Starfox2 were developed by Argonaut and the main people behind those games were the ones behind Command (which its a awesome game, 2nd best Starfox ever) Before people start bashing Flint and whining about Command, I'm going to say that I agree with him completely. Star Fox Command is a really fun game despite the terrible fanfic-tastic storyline, and it gets far more flak than it deserves.

StarFox Command was awful at first. Then, once I got used to the gameplay system, it became quite fun. But, all too soon, it became the most repetitive, tedious and boring game I own. It has no redeeming qualities. Every stage is identical, I only ever want to use Fox, Wolf or Falco, and the story makes me want to blow my own head off.

I could see why it could be considered by fanfiction, but it was nice as it never ended the same way.

I loved Command, the gameplay (especially the strategical map parts) was very fun, and the alternate paths really enhanced the game, in my opinion.

For the record, Argonaut only did the gameplay for the original Star Fox. The story and characters were all added in by Nintendo EAD after the game had been completed.
