Haha. Earthbound is a major franchise? You're such a kidder.
Still. I have a feeling it'll get two guys anyways, while more deserving series like Wars will get shafted altogether. Ah well!

I'm very glad this mode's back, I always loved it and its simplicity. Of course, SSE is beyond awesome, but this is a very fun mode too...I'm glad to see it wasn't forgotten.

Maybe it's something where the major franchises are guaranteed battles, but in-between we see the one-offs randomly selected.
We only have Zelda confirmed for 1, Pokemon for 3, and Kirby for 5. So maybe 2 and 4 are "random smaller franchises." As far as the Metal/Giant thing, I bet it'll be randomly applied to each stage. Like.. you won't see it on the first stage, but the 3rd and on, for example, could easily be such.

I'd still like to think F-Zero deserves at least two guys...I mean, if MOTHER does...D:

My idea of how this will work out...
STAGE 1 - Zelda STAGE 2 - Donkey Kong STAGE 3 - Pokemon STAGE 4 - Mario STAGE 5 - VS Giant BONUS - Break the Targets STAGE 6 - Metroid STAGE 7 - Star Fox STAGE 8 - Yoshi STAGE 9 - Kirby STAGE 10 - Wario BONUS - Board the Platforms (I hope) STAGE 11 - VS Team (Yoshi Team, Kirby Team, etc) STAGE 12 - F-Zero STAGE 13 - Mother STAGE 14 - Single representative (Ice Climber, Sonic, etc) STAGE 15 - Fire Emblem BONUS - Race to the Finish STAGE 16 - Metal Battle STAGE 17 - Some kind of Fighting Polygons thing STAGE 18 - Master Hand
Just a guess.

I always preferred Smash64 classic mode to Melee`s so I like that some part of it its back, besides Melee`s wasn't so random after all, Not all the characters where available for Team Giant, and Metal battles (and there where some OD pairings Fire Emblem chars where accompanied by a Zelda char but never by the other Fire Emblem char, and Ness was accompanied by Peach (Y suppose because she was similar to Paula)

I'm pleased of the return of Classic...with all the love and attention Adventure's getting, I'm glad this wasn't forgotten. The blend of SSB64 and Melee elements looks interesting...

Or at least that had happened with me.
