Love this stage. Favorite thus far. My excitement made my fiance want to learn how to play Brawl, which made this update even better! ^_^

My post was intended more as a "don't make assumptions about characters based on what HASN'T been shown in updates" - and wasn't specifically about the swimming Sonic issue. Ah, I misunderstood. I completely agree. One thing that I'm hoping for is alternate routes through Adventure stages depending on who you're playing as, like in Sonic & Knuckles (sorry, can't think of a Nintendo example). I definitely don't think a character should be compromised to suit the gameplay, when the gameplay can easily be improved to accommodate. That seems like backwards thinking to me.

In that pic, Sonic looks like he's pretending to be happy, but he's secretly thinking "Please kill me"

I'm gonna try to explain this without getting too preachy. If I lapse, though, I apologize in advance.
Whether it's stupid or not--that doesn't bother me. I think it looks funny but it's not gonna be for everyone. Whatever, I can swallow that pill. What disappoints me was you using the word "gay" in that context. Not only is it intolerant, but it's pretty ignorant, too. That's why it was unnecessary.

Being gay does not equal being stupid. I've never understood how people can toss that statement around without realizing that... *sigh*

I have an insight into this that may help foster happy relations amongst you all without anybody getting upset. I hope. We all know words change meaning all the time. Gay used to mean happy, then it meant immoral (e.g. a "gay house" meant a brothel), then the first was gay cat (an amateur hobo - no swear filter - paired with an older hobo, with various connotations), before becoming prison slang for a homosexual. Then, for some reason, homosexuals started using the word gay in reference to themselves! Those crazy 1960's... etymological nightmare. Then another, alternate use of the word, derived from the widespread negative connotations associated with homosexuality leading up to the 80s and 90s, arrived on the scene, and bred with the aid of the internet. Followers of many philosophers of language (me being one of them) know that meaning is only ascribed to words with widespread understanding and context. The meaning of words are tied to the context they are used in. This is exactly how the Japanese language works. A load of words can be written in exactly the same way, but their meaning is derived from the context. And so long as everyone understands the word within the context it is being used in, then so be it. Hardly anybody confuses the meanings. And hardly anybody who says "gay" to mean "stupid" means it in a malicious way to insult people who are gay (homosexual). I will continue to suggest not using it in place of many other words that mean the same, but I will also suggest not feeling personally attacked when it is used either. As it's not personal. It's not even about "being gay" any more. It's just another word. Besides... you're all a bunch of bastards!!

I wasn't offended by Smash's use of the word so much as disappointed. I just assumed he'd have known better, so I was never under the impression that it was a personal attack (which is why I avoided getting preachy). ;D
I see what you're saying about context, though. I just don't agree with the negative use of the word. It bothers me. *shrug* There are other words you can use in its place that don't have the same association.

Bastard should be a touchy word, but it doesn't seem to be. You rarely see anyone get offended by it anymore.
