I'm still for the thinking that it's Capt. Falcon and that's it. Of course, I'm not against F-Zero characters. I'll be giddy if they are in.

Black Shadow would be cool and makes sense, as he's a villain and has been around since the N64 days.

I wonder if Captain Falcon won't be unlockable but will be shown this late because of some very good reason that didn't deserve to be revealed previously.

I'm betting he will show up late and get a "hey, Its Captain Falcon? Where has he been? Oh, it doesn't matter, he's here now". Hell, if we do get another F-Zero character, I could totally see Sakurai giving us them BEFORE Captain Falcon, with a sly mention of "isn't there supposed to be another F-Zero character? Where could he be?"

Or maybe, since Falcon was Sakurai's favourite, the "Heroes always arrive late" in the K.K. Rider update was a sly reference to Captain Falcon appearing late.

It'd only be annoying if it were a bum character like Rick Wheeler or one of those other GBA-exclusive dudes. If it's one of the F-Zero/X/GX/AX guys...then I could forgive him. ;D

Just to let you know, I'm Sakurai, and Rick Wheeler is a PC and Falcon is an Assist.

Also, I still dont doubt Velocity stuff that much. It could happen.........maybe.

I still say F-Zero gets all the representation it needs with Captain Falcon alone. Those are good chioces though.... and I didn't even consider Daigoroh.

What about Octoman? A giant squid, who's F-Zero and Starfox at the same time? Also? AWESOME THEME.
Kinda generic? Yeah I guess... but I said that about Lizardman and he quickly became everybody's favorite Soul Calibur character. Even Generic can be cool, given the environment of the game. Also... Japan likes squids and octopuses and stuff like that.

Zoda is.... I guess... an F-Zero character and a Startropics character at the same time... (I guess.... sorta.... maybe..... )

But I honestly think Falcon is the only one who's going to be in brawl again. If they do throw somebody unexpected into the mix, I'll have no problems with it. I LOVE F-ZERO.

Finally got the sales numbers

Basically, the first F-Zero sold the best, with +2million copies. But the others struggled to break 1million. One reason it's getting less treatment is it's sales in Japan. The games never seemed to do that great, with even Velocity doing poor. Ok for one region, but a bit lackluster in the scheme of things.

I don't think F-Zero Zoda has anything to do with StarTropics Zoda except the name. They have a different look... different everything. The name may be an homage to StarTropics... but it could just as easily be a coincidence in my opinion.

Vorpal and Rygar: As someone who spent a long time working with F-Zero cameos, I can tell you Zoda-from-F-Zero just doesn't have enough ice cream in his milkshake to be a Zoda-from-StarTropics cameo. Other characters that might be cameos but really aren't include Octoman (whom people assume is an Octorok cameo), Billy (Dk cameo) and Leon (Wolf O'Donnell/Leon Powalski cameo). There's not enough prüf to swing them either way, although Billy does have a picture of AiAi from Super Monkey Ball on his belt in the F-Zero GX art. Also, it's possible that John Tanaka is a Kozumi Totaka cameo, but again--not enough evidence.

Characters that are definitely cameos, though? James McCloud, which should be really obvious, and Mr. EAD, who is a cameo of Mario in F-Zero X, Luigi in F-Zero GX ("My older brother was melted and turned into my car." He says something like that when you win with him), and his name is a cameo to, well, EAD.

Originally I thought it was an reference to a playable AC character. But now it seems we won't have one so the next logic choice would be Meta Knight. I thought that was a reference to Meta Knight because Sakurai said Meta Knight's update was delayed for some reason.

Lucas's PK Fire reminds me of how the fire effects in this game are gorgeous and I can't wait until I can see some of Captain Falcon's fiery moves once again. Also hoping the Falcon Punch is once again THE hard hitting move that quakes the whole arena.
